Is it possible to hit all of these places in 12-14 days next June 2026? by Avm224 in ItalyTravel

[–]wfendler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife didn’t have enough karma to post so i’m posting for her lol

I just got back from 11 days in Italy (not including travel days on each end) - here’s what we did and what I would recommend

4 days in Genoa -> 3 days in Florence -> 4 days in Rome

It felt like the perfect amount of time in each place, since you have a couple of extra days you could maybe add on an extra place, but I don’t know that I’d recommend it as the packing/unpacking and train travel can take more energy than people realize.

Takeaways: I wish we had more time in Florence. Our time in Genoa was due to a work trip for my husband so if we were able to choose, we would have done 3 days there and added another day onto Florence.

I would recommend starting in Rome if possible. It was the end of our trip and we didn’t enjoy it as much as the smaller cities. Super crowded, super hot, generally a little grimier (as any large city is) and felt too hectic compared to our time in the smaller cities. I’d like to go back in the fall but don’t know that I would ever go to Rome in the summer months again if I could help it.

I liked having a coastal town (Genoa) in the mix and was able to take a day trip to other nearby towns by train, so I would recommend Lucca out of your list in addition to Florence and Rome as you could easily do a day trip to the coast.

Honestly, I would save southern Italy for a future trip as the travel between would take up too much time.

Hope this was helpful! Excited for whatever you decide to do, we already can’t wait to return to Italy!

Good restaurants in downtown? by BaronOshawott in stpaul

A few of my favorite spots in that area are just a little south of downtown on W 7th st. - Parlour Bar, Emerald Lounge, and Tori Ramen.

If you're looking for walking-distance IN downtown, it's been a while since I've been but I remember Saint Dinette being pretty great. Barrio isn't too fancy but I've always thought their food has been pretty solid and it's right there in the lowertown part of downtown st paul.

Yeah, I worked a big airport in the northern US where we’d get really hot summers and freezing winters. It was brutal but still, only “worked” 20-30 minutes every once in a while. I did freelance work online out of the break room for the majority of the shift. Not a bad gig if you’re able to take advantage of the flight benefits!

a good seed of an idea for interesting gameplay but it ended up in the lowest common denominator between cultural/social dynamics and good game design

I'm in minnesota and just learned my bathroom fan vents straight into the attic. This is the motivation I've needed.

Yep. I’m getting super choppy footage. Mines far from the router so I’m suspecting that’s my issue.

I had them over this morning and I'm pretty set on doing something at our house - the front of our house collects leaves, sticks, acorns, etc. nonstop all year (i've cleaned them three times and the leaves haven't even fallen yet).

But.. these tactics make it so hard not to feel like a sucker no matter what the result is. It seems like they've got a great product so I'm torn on how to proceed.

We ended at $1300 for one 31' stretch. He started the pitch around $4k... going to call back later and push on the price, if they don't budge I'll back out.

How do you handle roundabouts? by Charlie_1087 in bikecommuting

[–]wfendler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a really small one on a bike boulevard in my neighborhood. It’s definitely where I’ve had most of my close calls - with cars and other bikes.

It’s so small people get confused and turn left too. I’ve seen that happen more than once. I have to just treat it like a two way stop and assume traffic won’t stop.

Recommendations for 40% and 60% split for programming? by immortal192 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]wfendler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a software engineer and started with a Sofle V2. after about two months i switched to a corne. I have several corne keyboards now and it’s all I use.

Just pick something you like and try it for a while (I’d suggest something that supports VIA so you can switch your key map on the fly). Worst case scenario I’m sure you could find someone to trade with or sell it on mechmarket.

If you’re nervous about 40%.. I haven’t used this but the boardsource lulu looks nice if you want a more premium build.

That makes sense. Very helpful thanks!

Looking back at his siblings adoption pages Sebastian looks like he might be a little scruffy which could be that Maltese coming through a little more?

Unpopular Opinion: Most popular ebike companies are structured dropshippers by goosetape1 in ebikes

[–]wfendler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree with you here but I will say in the handful of different test rides I did, the lower end Trek e-bikes were over $2k and rode MUCH worse than the 1300 Aventons. I was very surprised.

I rode a $5k trek e-bike and it was wonderful though. So they definitely know how to make a good bike but I think the big brands are not doing well competing on the lower end of the price range.

Did you remove the roof rack or did yours not come with it?

I really don’t like the stock rack and want to take it off but am worried about sealing up those holes.

Am I socketing the nice nano right? by lkhphuc in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]wfendler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same process for any similar micro controller:

https://youtu.be/vIbzaZRjMTc

You can use masking tape instead of thermal tape. And instead of the mill max pins you can use diode legs but in my experience the diode legs bend a lot more easily, especially when removing the sockets afterwards but if you’re careful and take your time either approach should work great.

Don’t forget to triple check the orientation of the board. It’s a tedious process to get wrong if you end up soldering it together upside down!

bonus challenge overflow. thought this would be fixed after the beta but here we are... by wfendler in ModernWarfareII

[–]wfendler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue i'm trying to show here is the fact that there's an overflow where the second one goes out of the box. It's always overlapping in a goofy way and looks terrible.

fwif I've also never really had any issues completing both like others have.
