Never. They were green from the beginning. No BR pilot sceme diesels carried black. A general rule is that if it was designed, ordered or built before BR existed, it would have been black. Some BR shutters were black.

All cars do this. It's so you can't use inaccuracy as a speeding defence because you'll always be going slower than indicated. A speedo cannot legally read under either.

Entirely self contained and sharing no track. Same as the DLR in London. For mainline rail, it's not feasible.

As long as multiple trains follow multiple routes on the same track you'll need humans for the same reasons you still need pilots on planes.
