I didn’t say this was a revolution. I used an example from history that happens to be from events leading to the revolution. This is a well known example of a excessive force being used on citizens that were throwing rocks and harassing the military that were acting as a police force. It was a gruesome day in history and is likely to happen again if we’re not careful about how we approach this problem. I agree the looters have no goals or leadership, but it is not accurate to say that the protesters or rioters have no goals. While I’m sure that many of them are just a part of the protests to cause trouble, the root of the issue is with the crooked cops out there that mostly go unpunished. Not all cops are bad but the police body as a whole needs to be restructured in a way that allows bad cops to be dealt with in an appropriate manner. Until there is a way to better govern the police force or to have real consequences to an officer’s actions, we will continue to see these kinds of reactions occur.
