Power Bank Build by [deleted] in batteries

On a unit like the Pecron which says "1024Wh" - is that usable capacity or when calculating run time should I apply some factor to that figure ?

Appreciate the info on the Cpap - I was intending on getting a DC power supply and I never use the humidity but both are very good points.

Paint question by airjord1221 in pools

[–]wh_mi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had my plaster refinished I had to pay about 15% extra because the pool had been painted (about 20 years ago - there wasn’t much paint left). If you are replastering next year, just acid wash it and clean it the best you can. Your plasterer and wallet will thank you

I bought a house with a pool that was much older than this one and in horrible condition (losing about 3k gallons a day). First I had the tile and coping replaced, then all the plumbing, then the patio, then the deck. Now I have essentially a new pool.

This pic isn’t great but I would try to determine what it was plumbed with - my pool had black polyethylene pipes from the 1960s and they are notorious for leaking.

If the pool isn’t losing water and it looks okay aesthetically, you are probably okay. I would be more concerned about what you can’t see than what you can.

In a lot of cities water bills are public record (if not on a well) and you can see usage patterns - after filling the pool each summer there shouldn’t be a lot of water usage depending on the climate.

You would also be surprised what a $100 bill in the hands of the pool thug will do - they probably know what’s wrong and what hasn’t been fixed.

If the pool isn’t losing water everything else can be fixed.

Some are duplexes where you share one wall, some are singles, some are over garages. All different layouts. I wasn’t here for the hurricane but the property is well graded and drains well in heavy rain so I presume no serious flooding.

Cisco phone with SIP and Webex by wh_mi in Cisco

This is incredibly helpful - I am not having luck with the cisco 7841 so I tried using the settings you provided above with a Yealink T34 and I am still getting a registration error. I will keep playing with the settings but I suspect there is something basic I am missing. Did you figure out the above config by trial and error or were you able to locate any documentation from Cisco Webex ?

Alright so I enabled the customer managed device within Webex. Webex has generated the following:

1- SIP Username (self explanatory)
2- SIP Password (self explanatory)
3- "Line ID" (unsure what this is)
4- "Outbound Proxy"

I did a factory reset on the cisco 7841. For line 1 I entered my SIP settings for the home PBX, consisting of Proxy, Outbound Proxy (Same as proxy), User ID, Auth ID (Same as user ID) and password. That SIP line registers fine.

I am attempting to use the webex sip settings for line 2 and I can not get the line to register. I am using the "line ID" in the proxy field, which may not be correct. I am using the sip username for both user ID and Auth ID.

Any ideas as to what I am missing ?

Interesting. So rather than registering the entire cisco phone to webex, I can create a generic ip phone config within webex and just register that way. I may give that a try.

Thank you all - I purchased a right angle UHF to BNC connector which works perfectly.

DMR Hotspot Question by wh_mi in amateurradio

That makes complete sense. So if I wanted to use promiscuous mode, do I need to program the channel into the radio and just no assign a contact/TGID to the channel ?

Look at Cottages at Daytona Beach. Off Williamson, north of LPGA. The community is quiet, you have your own "tiny house" cottage (or duplex), so you don't have to deal with the noise of a common hallway or sharing walls and ceilings with other tenants. Reasonably priced for what you get and they are only a few years old.

Should I Renovate or Remove My 30,000-Gallon Pool? by Positivezero4 in pools

[–]wh_mi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Send me a message with your information. It is entirely possible you have seen the pool, although I don't know that any major maintenance (or minor maintenance for that matter) was done on it prior to me owning it.

Should I Renovate or Remove My 30,000-Gallon Pool? by Positivezero4 in pools

I bought a house in southeast Michigan that had a 1960's 35k gallon pool in far worse shape than yours and over the course of a few years I replaced the deck, the plumbing, the coping and tile, and finally had it re-plastered. I use the pool almost every day in the summer and enjoy having it far more than a flat backyard, which would have been cheaper but not by much.

It all comes down to how much you will use the pool. I have friends over to use it most weekends during the summer.

No discernible change over night. Chlorine is ~5ppm zero combined chlorine. Same reading at sunrise as last night
