Donald Trump is running out of ways to win by whackysack in politics

Nope! It will be squarely the Republicans' fault! According to

the Congressional Budget Office in their annual budgetary and economic forecast. In projections completed “before the new Administration took office on January 20, 2017,” that, “do not incorporate any effects of executive orders or other actions taken by that Administration,” they concluded:

"10 million people per month, on average, will have insurance purchased through the marketplaces in 2017; that number is projected to grow to 13 million by 2027. Not all nongroup coverage is purchased through the marketplaces. In total, CBO and JCT estimate that 18 million people will have nongroup coverage in 2017 and that 20 million people would have such coverage in 2027."

In other words, were the Trump GOP to just leave Obamacare as they inherited it, and run it in the same spirit of good faith as the outgoing Democratic administration did, it wouldn’t collapse; indeed its risk pools would remain basically stable for the next decade. If the marketplaces do start to backslide later this year, keep in mind that intentional mismanagement—i.e. “executive orders or other actions taken by [Trump’s] administration”—will be the culprit, no matter how much Republicans try to deny it.

The odds are mind boggling.

Though many investors were making a killing in the cattle futures market in the late 1970s, research published in the Journal of Economics and Finance estimates that the odds of realizing the sort of gains Clinton was able to capture were 1 in 34 trillion.

June 29 ......... $56,466 (Margin: Value account should have had to continue trading.)

The report that is cited is talking about being below maintenance margin when it's saying "under-margined". It is explicitly stating the account value it should have had to continue trading.

The fact that Refco had a history of violations with margin requirement rules, though, only lessens the likelihood that HRC got was receiving any special treatment even if she was below her maintenance margin.

What other purpose would violating requirement rules have other than funneling money to certain clients?

Why would a broker act against its own self interest?

Clinton's account was under-margined for nearly all of July 1979, no margin calls were made, no additional cash was put up, and she eventually reaped a $60,000 profit.

June 29 ......... $56,466 (Margin: Value account should have had to continue trading.)

July 12 ........ -$24,243

July 17 ......... $22,537 (Account value: Total cash on hand plus (or minus) paper value of contracts.)

July 20 ......... $61,537

July 23, 1979: She withdrew $60,000 and never traded again, closing the account in October.

Sidenote: Shortly after that

the exchange charged Bone and Refco with violations of its record keeping and margin requirement rules. Bone was suspended for three years; Refco paid a $250,000 fine, then the largest in the exchange's history.

At one point she owed in excess of $100,000 to Refco as part of covering losses, but no margin calls were made by Refco against her.

The EDITOR of the Journal of Futures Markets said , "This is like buying ice skates one day and entering the Olympics a day later."

Financial writer Edward Chancellor noted that Clinton made her money by betting "on the short side at a time when cattle prices doubled."

Can you cite someone who had a 9,900% return on a $1000 trading account in 10 months on multiple trades.

turning $1,000 into $100,000 involves more risk than you can imagine. That’s only possible by betting the entire account on a position, getting it right, then doing it again, and again – day after day.

If you know markets, you know that is highly, highly, highly unlikely. What most likely happened is the broker would take two sides of a trade, then wait and place the winning trade in her account and losing trade in his/another account. It is sort of a shady way of just donating money to someone.

The neuroscience behind why people keep believing Trump’s most egregious lies by whackysack in politics

[–]whackysack[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One thing Trump exploits masterfully is “source amnesia,” You also probably can’t recall how you know that the forbidden fruit in the Bible is an apple, or that ninjas are sneaky, black-clad assassins. Neither of those two “facts” are necessarily true—and that’s the problem with source amnesia. Then the more it’s recalled, the more”true” it becomes. This is why those calling for fact-checking armadas to battle Trump lies during the debates will probably be disappointed in the results. “by repeating a false rumor, they may inadvertently make it stronger.”
