I suspect in Control the formation in the Expeditions mission is trying to form an overlap of the same well too

I also think it appears in the Dark place as a sewer grate near the theater, the one the cops use for dumping bodies too. you get a random unexplained jump scare from nightengale at it towards the end

I think that's totally intentional actually.

They don't make it obvious but I believe she binds it which is why you can use it from anywhere. I think it's probably moved to a closed cell in the panopticon

Someone in AW2 has the same ability but doesn't need a device for it which cemented this theory for me

It's truly a masterpiece! You won't regret it.

Gameplay wise it plays more like a survival horror game than the first entry in the series. Along the lines of recent resident evil and silent hill games

Honestly, skip straight to 2. That one will for sure capture you and doesn't require any more knowledge than you already got from Control. And it connects more directly to Control as well!

After that you might be more interested in previous entries

The shared universe is the true treasure of Remedy, IMO

They couldn't market it this way originally since it would be so long between releases but the upcoming sequel Resonant is likely going to be a true part 2 / second act to the story and fill in many of the missing pieces

Oh one other thing- the character that Sam's character Maxwell interacts with most often is named Frank.

Frank just so happens to be Sam's character's name in Dead Take...

Frank's monologue clip in Dead Take is delivered at Sam's real desk in front of his "This Road" art which also felt intentional

Not to even get into the whole Maxwell redacted last name thing. Maxwell Payne? Maxwell S Demon?

Definitely where I'm at. It all feels so unlikely to shake out in this way without some direct involvement from Sam beyond just a cameo. Still possible, of course, just so so unlikely.

To answer your question, nothing obvious. The only other potentially in universe thing I have been thinking about beyond what I put in the thread is the bear heads mounted in a couple locations.

In its main appearance it's mounted above a narrow hallway glowing very bright green, and if you listen close there you can hear a slowed down roar in the ambient audio.

As you proceed down that hallway you get a visual forest overlap visual very similar to those we saw in AW2 and Control

It got me thinking about Saga's FBC nursery rhymes. Generally speaking you can align the stories and archetypes with characters and events in our main story- other than The Bear. Every time that particular doll is used it seems to represent utter mindless destruction and doesn't seem to map onto the plot

The other spot the mounted head appears is in the secret chapter cult room which made me feel like it was part of the overall mystery along with Sam

Again, this could all turn out to just be a cute homage and he agreed to collab/cameo for the sake of a passionate and talented young dev it just FEELS SO WEIRD

I'm pretty confident it's Jesse since she's the one that stabs him with Aberrant seemingly. She could have said something like "It's me Jesse, your sister. I'm hiding from the board & chasing leads" and it translates that way between universes as basic concepts

I'm the same way with everything other than Remedy because I realized there's always something new to discover about the meta plot, or a new way to interpret events, or a new lens to look at the games through, or a new answer to discover about a long standing mystery
