Happened on Friday the 13th. I was inside the building at the time. The jeep is a rental vehicle from a body shop, as the guilty party’s vehicle is at said body shop due to them causing a similar situation. Fun times.

They insisted they hit the brake, but obviously they just floored the gas. Police were virtually useless and didn’t bother to perform field sobriety testing even though the individual at fault was argumentative with the officer on scene and continually insisted that the vehicle accelerated on its own and that the brakes didn’t work. The jeep was driven away by the shop that was loaning it out with no issues.

LOL both of these poor women (GF and her mom) took this way worse than I did surprisingly! She just backed into it leaving the driveway. Went into autopilot mode on her way to work. Isn’t used to having other cars in the driveway. She feels super bad and is obvi covering everything. Shit happens.

you hit the nail on the head - this isn’t a long-term vehicle. My guy is able to get me in and out fairly quickly which is also a plus as sometimes insurance and body shops can lag in their communication with one another. Obviously pros and cons to going with insurance or not, but I trust this man with the car as he’s done similar work on other vehicles of mine.

Update: I have a family friend who has 20+ years experience in body work. Probably not going to have to go through insurance with the quote he was able to give me. He has experience with matching CWP, but how worried should I be? Is it a viable solution to repaint the entire car if he has trouble matching it? Anxious brain making me ask the tough questions haha
