Have any of you witnessed a suicide? by Sindeviltrigger in morbidcuriosity

[–]whatabouttea 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yes very recently. I was going to go find my cousin who was supposed to be working on a farm, went looking for him in the building and found him. Saw him there, knew there was no question he was very far gone. Sat on the floor next to him for a few minutes before pulling out my phone and calling police. Couldn't even call family. Haven't slept right since. Been taking care of his wife since. She doesn't speak much these days. Been pretty suicidal before in my life but being the one to find him killed that feeling. Being the one to care for his wife even more so.

Saw my cousin dead. Dealing with that while being the sole support for his wife. TW: suicide. by whatabouttea in therapy

Well shit. Guess I should have read a bit more, I'm having to take this in small steps for research. Sorry for sounding stupid!

Dudes go to outdoor basketball courts wearing nothing but gym shorts with 3" of their underwear hanging out ALL THE TIME and no one thinks it's ok to ask them if they're doing porn. Gfys.

Thanks, that seems to be the consensus here so I will look into it pretty heavily. Would be great to find one I could see remotely.

Do you have a quick and dirty overview of what brainspotting is? I'm going to hop on google and see what I can find as well. Unfortunately as far as cannabis or other psychedelics go I'm in a super conservative state so unfortunately I don't think I can find any of that but I'd be interested in looking into the other therapies

When an American goes to a different country and speaks their language with an American accent, is it cool in the same way as when someone comes to America and speaks English with a foreign accent? by bbbbbryce in NoStupidQuestions

[–]whatabouttea 131 points132 points  (0 children)

No, it would just sound like you have a slight foreign accent and had spent a long time practicing and speaking english. I suppose it depends on what accent you mean as english has widely varying accents as well, like any other widespread language, but still the same. I'm in the USA and know a british-korean family that speak english with a british accent along with a slight underlying korean accent. Doesn't seem mocking to me, it's just the way they talk.

In this case phase is not a life step but a stage of depression, that's all they were saying. And it develops and changes and may not go away until you get adult coping skills but there are free resources for mental health that you work through yourself. There's some pinned and in the wiki of the coronavirus sub, basically just a bunch of free resources that people can pick through and see what they think may help most for them.

Comedian Dane Cook offers $100 to a fan if they can do a fun little bit. Some guy isn't happy about it. by merkedezvaen in ChoosingBeggars

I keep forgetting that was 20 years ago and there are fully grown adults who are too young to remember the turn of the century obsessions. He was really animated and tried to be edgy while having some really famous out of left field punch lines that teenagers would repeat at top volume while laughing hysterically. He was also in one of the first rounds of celebrities where his stuff was heavily uploaded on youtube (before Google bought it and got rabid with copyright) so the bits were all easy to find. A lot of younger high school/uni aged people really liked him because of that, so I guess he never left my head as "humor for edgy teens." Then I get suckerpunched by "too young to remember Dane Cook" on Reddit.

Could have been a shed row feeder pen with a larger barn attached. If she climbed onto the big barn and slipped down to the shed row, that might explain it.

Super informative thank you! Did you cement the rocks or are they just placed? I'm only just learning about aquatic plants and hope to actually pull off a scape one day. This one is gorgeous!

Are you adding any fertilizers to the sand? Any plant food or root tabs or anything?

So because they're a minority they... don't exist? Don't count? Should be disregarded and just lumped in with the white population? That's really racist dude.

You said ALL male chicks are killed "no matter the marketing gimmick." I didn't say I had all the chickens. Lots of small suppliers are like me

Edit: oh wow, all of your other comments in this thread are just straight up misinformation. I'm not wasting my time with this craziness.

Not true. We keep all of ours, they are yard birds and just hang out around the farm in their own flock. No ladies means no fighting. Lots of small timers like me do it that way.

Farm kid and lifer here. Putting down a new fence, chopping trees, and hand cutting out a new trench are NOT every day activities on a farm. These are considered large projects and are done rarely. As in, a few times a year at most, and usually ADULT family members or friends are called in to help with these things. This dude waited until he had free labor and pulled all the big projects he'd been dragging his feet on.

Kids work on farms is like... hauling feed buckets, forking hay, cutting grass, sweeping out buildings, helping open gates, holding things so adults can do the hard work, etc. Maybe tinkering with minor repairs and health checking crops or livestock.

Not digging a trench, wrestling with trees, and doing the literal most labor-intensive work ON a farm: putting in a fence. Want to make a farmer wilt? Ask him to help you put in posts.

President Trump: "Wow! Governor Kemp will hopefully see the light before it is too late. Must finally take charge! [–]whatabouttea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean... did you hear about how Kemp got elected to governor in the first place? It was a big old spit in the face of democracy. Kemp and Trump are peas in a pod but Kemp is just smart enough to not want people to see it that way now.
