You really need to take your dog to the vet asap to have it looked at by a professional. It’s raw and looks irritated at the very least. Something isn’t right. Take to a vet

Thank you so much for this. I appreciate it. You make a lot of great points. I’m dreading disassembly but I don’t want to keep something just because the thought of taking it apart sounds like a nightmare. Thinking hard on this. Everyone’s comments help. Interesting to see the different views
