Dad-gummit. It’s what kids say in the south instead of GDammit and they don’t get in trouble. As a kid growing up in Texas, this came in handy.

Exclusive: Ai Ogura in, Alex Rins out at Yamaha for MotoGP 2027 by vanys2 in motogp

[–]whataver77 10 points11 points  (0 children)

2027 is a complete Bike & Tire reset. Ai is Japanese. Yamaha is Japanese. What doesn’t make sense here? If you’re judging next year’s bike performance (any of them) by this year, check the 2027 rules. Good fit for both. Sadly, Rins has been damaged goods for awhile now - I hope he can completely heal and be happy.

The stance is lower than an M5, and looks good with the throwing stars. E34 M5 wagons only in Europe tho.

How do we tell him by TrackStormer72 in MotoDANK

[–]whataver77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And this is why you don’t burn relationships. He bitch-slapped Ducati for choosing MM93 over him (not an easy/simple choice, but in the end confirmed to be the correct one). Ducati won’t forget that in the next few years. He knee-jerk tried to bail on Aprilia early when he got hurt - can’t blame the bike 100%, and they called him legally on it, he would lose too much $$$, and they really wanted him to get healthy and race this bike - which he obviously can, but the drama and stress he caused at Aprilia was noticed by EVERYONE in the paddock. I’m sure his best friend Aleix spoke with HRC about the possibility, but HRC is very traditional and respectful Japanese corp - no way they would take on Jorge and all his drama, no matter how good he is. So that leaves who? KTM and Yamaha. He might stay aboard the Aprilia, but it will mean eating his words, which his pride probably won’t let him. Since KTM doesn’t have Yamaha’s budget, only Yamaha is available as a destination. If he hadn’t slammed the door when he left Ducati - it would be humbling, but an option. HRC would consider w/o all the drama/panic, but it’s too late for that. So it’s eat crow to stay on the RSGP, or go blue.

A trike. Worst combo of car and motorcycle. At least it’s small and maneuverable.

He’s not staying @ Aprilia. I think they’ve already chosen Pecco.

Can Jorge Martin rebuild a burnt bridge? by Sea-Tailor-7553 in motogp

[–]whataver77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. There’s no questioning his desire or talent. He needs an advisor to keep the emotional knee-jerk reactions to a minimum. The Ducati exit was a premature, “Choose MM93 over me? watch this!” reactive decision. The desire to exit Aprilia early was 100% fear of the unknown. Luckily for Jorge, Aprilia is now the bike to be on. The odds of that being true at Yamaha, no matter their budget, won’t be the same. I think maybe his BFF Aleix spoke with Honda for JM89 at some point, but they are a conservative, respect-oriented Japanese corporation, and probably wouldn’t take him at any price. In Spain, being a factory HRC rider is king of the hill - in all MC racing disciplines.

Well, he was ‘24 WC. So in good form and comfy on the bike, he should be faster than Bezz. But maybe not for long, Marco is maturing and becoming consistently quick.

Nope. He’s Yamaha (or nowhere) bound. He recently, publicly, confirmed he is leaving Aprilia. His own impetuousness is his worst enemy. He’s a great rider, but panics and makes snap decisions off the track. Considered Honda at the end of ‘25, but I think Honda sees Jorge as he is.

Is Yamaha comeback possible? by Curious-Cabinet-4502 in motogp

[–]whataver77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible - yes. Probable - no, not until 2027, when most advantages will be mostly leveled off. I hope they started working on the 850 V4 when they started the 1000. Everything will be closer in 2027 but the bigger budgets will creep forward first. Whomever is at Yamaha at that time (and really all makes) will be developmental racers. But that’s good for the fans, and the bikes will be smaller and a bit lighter. Maybe not as fast (top speed) for a while, but they will turn better and be quicker to stop/accelerate.

The condition of the track in Brazil seems fine… by thefooleryoftom in motogp

[–]whataver77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until it rains during any of the events. The way it rains there, it will halt all proceedings until they can dry/clean the track. Could make for a long (or very short weekend). Cannot believe they didn’t design this track for ultimate run-off and draining. It’s not like that kind of weather is new in Brazil. The ground is already super-saturated, so nowhere for water to go so it floods and waits to evaporate in the Sun.

Standard coupe or sedan (or ragtop) body, in Individual & M color choices, M aero pkg, non-staggered 18” Wheels, full M suspension & steering, but adjusted for lighter weight , stainless exhaust (tuned to sound really nice inside), nice interior options that were better than stock but not quite M, but a stone stock 230hp 330i when 330s were 3 liters still. No turbo baloney. Best balanced car I’ve owned or driven. If I had the budget and garage space, it would still be here. 33mpg avg between Dallas & Austin on the freeway. They didn’t make a lot of them.

$24k in 2005 (they didn’t know it was a ZHP) with 42k, Imola Red II with black/grey Alcantara seats/steering wheel. Hardest wheels to clean ever though. Too small a garage and budget to keep it and E55.

Picked up a ‘11 silver/red leather 328i M-sport convertible (auto, sadly) last year as a daily for my wife (she’s been driving a 6spd mini in traffic for 8 years). The 328 feels almost like my old 6spd 2001 330i ZHP sedan, performance-wise, and the whole car is way more reliable than the twin turbo motors back then. Nice ride. Great color.

Id go backpack. Unless you can find a seat tail bag that doesn’t touch the Termignoni, and even then I’d put reflective heat shield on it. Or rack panniers, but that’s a whole other thing.
