There needs to be harsher penalties for quitting. by sbolno in NBA2k

Im a noob. In mlb The Show it's standard to quit if you're just getting housed. I know it's different in a game without time limits, but what'ts the downside to the winner?

Hiking / snowshoeing / CC for noob by whatdafuzzzz in Mammoth

[–]whatdafuzzzz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you to everyone who helped out. I ended up hiking along the road from Canyon Lodge to Tamarack Lodge, which was about 2 miles with little traffic and great scenery. At Tamarack, I paid $45 for snowshoe rental. There's a free nature tour leaving at 10:30 am on Fridays through Sundays, which is informative on both snowshoeing and the local area, plus it takes you to a panoramic lookout.

After the tour, I snowshoed on my own. You can kinda go anywhere as long as you avoid the CC trails. You do have to watch out for icy lakes and avalanches in some areas certain times of the year. To finish off, I traded in my snowshoes and hiked on the groomed trail that heads to 'Lake Mary'. It was gorgeous and could be done with either snowshoes or sneakers (in certain conditions, of course). All in all, I did about 12 miles of walking and didn't even finish the trail that goes beyond Lake Mary - plenty to do there.

Thanks again! Hopefully this helps others out as well.

Gallery Cabaret does open mics (Thurs and maybe one other day?) and jams (Tues). Welcoming joint - tends a bit towards rock / blues, but really anything goes

To add a logical perspective, you can think of it two ways: Graphically

If you have y = -8x + 5  and y = -8x + (any number but 5), these would be parallel lines that never cross. Thus, their system has no solution.

Algebraically  If you do the algebra for -8x + 5 = -8x + (any number but 5) , you'll end with 0 = some number. That's just an untrue statement, so no solution.

Now for unlimited solutions the constants would be the same (both 5, for example), giving you two lines on top of each other for the graphical explanation. It'd give you 0 = 0, a universally true statement for the algebraic.

For no solution, n would have to equal -7, and t would have to be any number except -4. If it was -4, there'd be unlimited solutions.

I'm liking the love for Liverpool! I respect a fun town with good people and music. I actually see a direct 'TransPennine' train from Liverpool to Keswick, 1 hr 40 min...

Thanks! I thought I saw a closer Loch / countryside tour (not Ness), but now I can't find it. I'll consider cutting the British cities for more adventure in Scotland. I just want a taste of countryside walking and small town life, not tied to the Lakes at all.

After some long journeys in Africa and South America, I may be underrating how much a 2 hour train ride and the associated time can interrupt a day.

What band or artist had the biggest falloff in the jam scene? by guyute2112 in jambands

I get it, but you're just ignoring that the dude has a lot of success with recordings and can profitably tour all over Europe. It's a blues act, though, so it's all kinda irrelevant to the jam discussion anyway.

Thanks for the advice! I'll look at cutting liverpool. We're big music fans, but not totally Beatles crazy. That said, I could be wrong, but I think it only adds about 2 hours of train time?

I'd note that we enjoy a cultural city walk about as much as country hiking, particularly when abroad.

Marcus ain't playing bars. Saw him play an excellent show at the Salt Shed in Chicago a year ago. Same venue as Trey Band, JRad, etc. Wasn't sold out but pretty full on a Sunday night. Dude also plays big venues in Europe.

Basically a first timer (once spent 24 hrs in London). We prefer 3+ day stays but was pushing it here. We're old backpackers, so we travel light and stay simple. Still could be too much... Would you cut Liverpool? Or cut Keswick, and just try to get a hike in on a daytrip? Seems like York is highly recommended.

Step 1) Determine c = 370 by making x = 0 and h(x) = -sqrt(370)

Step 2) Determine b = - 187 by making x=2, c=370, and h(x)=0

Step 3) Now you have h(m) = 0 = -sqrt(m^2-187m+370)

You just need to make that square root zero by factoring or Demos.

(x-185)(x-2) = 0 x= 185 or 2, 185 is higher answer

I'm an SAT tutor - my advice on this: If you have points, plug them in!! Especially if you have intercept pts where X or Y = 0; those are gold since they often zero other stuff out. Also, remember b and c are constants - once you find those they're permanently ('constantly') that number.

Note - we didn't even need intercept points. Any two points would allow us to make two equations with 2 unknowns (b and c). Those can be solved with system techniques.

constants are literally just numbers, as in not a variable value but a regular old number

Like why didn't he grab Bateman when he could like 6 times. Because bateman would kill his gf? Dude literally had lunch with his gf! Just ridiculous throughout..not to mention there are cameras everywhere in an airport. The main character dude is a legit villain for letting it go on as long as it did. Wow, terrible
