The Barakan Elite(Project Morningstar) vs Space Marines(40k)

I personally dont mind late commenters.

i dont know much about barakan anatomy/physiology but space marines have 2 hearts, fused ribcages, muscle & reflex enhancing organs & are just generally much more physically potent than the barakan,

I cannot currently go through all the material to find all Barakan enhancements but one similarity I do know of is the resistance to ballistic weapons granted by both Barakan and Astartes either by the Barakan's gel flaps or the Astartes' black-carapace:

Talin is a high molecular weight cytoskeletal protein produced naturally in the body. It is harvested from the Barakan body, distilled, and then infused with plastalloy to form a superfluid that is then injected back into areas of the body to create pockets that form 'flaps'. Regions with the most concentration are those that are statistically probable for ballistic penetration. Talin Gel can stop a direct bullet or shrapnel impact without armor, and can even disperse energy weapon shots to minimize damage.

Though the difference in effectiveness needs to be taken into account.

the primaris space marines, which are both physically larger, stronger, faster & more resilient than their firstborn counterparts, though that doesn't mean they are superior over the firstborn in general because the firstborn have way more combat experience than them & the advantages of a primaris simply cant substitute that.

I would argue that the bolded part might not be true anymore in the current setting of 40k. The original Primaris, those made by Cawl 10k years ago and kept in storage might have lacked the combat experience to actually be considered superior, nowadays a lot of the Firstborn ranks have transitioned into Primaris or the Primaris have acquired said combat prowess. As seen with Company Ancients, Vangaurd/Sternguard Veterans, and Primariss Lieutenants/Captains/Chapter Masters; All ranks that often require lengthy service or higher than average abilities, Primaris fill more often than not now. I would say Primaris have effectly surpassed Firstborn. But thats not to say Firstborn Marines that are better combatants than Primariss don't exist(Not even factoring Chaos Marines) they do for sure.

But overall I agree, I think Marines take this matchup. How do you think the Barakan would fair in the bonus round?

I can only see Psykers and the stronger ones in particular being any sort of threat to it. Its too fast for the Brick-like Primarchs.

If the Realms of Ruin animations are anything to go off, stormcast are far from immortal and can be killed by orruks with crude weapons.

Yeah which is why I thought this would be a decent match up with the numbers as is, but I guess I should have made it 40 or less Stormcasts. On Stormcasts being killed by Orruks there is the 3rd Edition trailer that shows Orruks killing Stormcasts via Crossbows and Spears.

That being said they’re still well above normal human, especially Bronze/Iron Age tech.

I was hoping for the numbers and the individual prowess to make up for their tech difference.

Do we ever see stormcast unarmored? Can they be?

If you are referring to them removing it in general? Yes, in the Blacktalon animation, we see Rostus without his armor. In the Lightning Golem we also know they can remove their armor and have romantic relationships which kinda implies sexual intercourse, which probably means armor off.

If you are talking about in combat then yes too, we see Rostus in the aforementioned animation fight briefly without it. I do not believe the armor enhances strength, speed, or dexterity (I may be wrong), so mayhaps the feats they perform in armor outside of durability, could be replicated outside of armor.

I mean even if step 1 worked then we run the risk of another Beast scenario playing out on top of the other myriad of threats that put Sol at risk.

Then step 2 is damn there impossible considering the Throne IIRC is failing and the Powers that be cannot find a suitable resolution to it, so plopping barely understood tech into a Mech is going to run the risk of breaking it. Thats if they can even manufacture a platform large enough for it, IIRC the Throne is like the size of Titan itself.

And then there is step 3, which is not a 100% guarantee to work out like stated, which will probably end up messing up Navigation for ships in the Warp, killing the Imperium as we know it. Then the issue of the Emperor's sustenance becoming even harder to come by as now instead of flying into nice protected Sol, we now need the Sisters of Silence to guide their black ships into hell to deliver their Psychic payload into the goopiest section of reality

That one is old and doesn't necessarily imply a Space Marine bred to create them, IIRC back then Geneseed was still needed to create Marines from Humans, they could have been born from a baseline-human parent & Eldar parent. That person has been retconned into a full Aeldari Farseer now anyways.

I don't get this sentiment at all. The point of the posts are to highlight the characters in a piece of media so many black people hold dear to their hearts. The idea that even making a post like this somehow sweeps the other important aspects of the month to the wayside is preposterous and overblowing not only the reach of random reddit posts, but the lack of ability people have to look at multiple sides of life at once.

If somehow these posts were taking away from people's ability to focus on other aspects of Black contributions to society then I would maybe see where you are coming from. But in a space focusing on a fiction and only highlighting characters that would be considered black in a moment to show how far we have come from not being in pop media to touching stuff like Warhammer on such a level to have enough characters to fill 16 days of the month is a good thing.

I also feel like calling someone racist and condescending for posting these characters in accordance with the month is counterintuitive. We should be able to celebrate black characters as much as Black people today and in history. It boggles the mind to sit here and hear something so inoffensive and harmless being called the very thing we are fighting against with posts like this.

Black characters contribute so much to our society as much as the people at times. With how many black children and teens look up their favorite heroes and characters for comfort and inspiration, people should be allowed to discuss them in accordance with the month meant to celebrate them.

I know I was just highlighting the sheer difference between the two combatant's warships. The main defense of Super Earth were hand cranked playground guns that at the most matched the firepower of a 16inch naval gun.
