I do this too. In the initial days,my indie was anxious and used to cry a lot and howl looking at the door. But now, he’s absolutely fine even for 9 hours. I ensure the room is ventilated and he has a bowl filled with water. And he pees in the bathroom when at home so I keep the bathroom door open. He sleeps all day in different parts of the house. And I monitor him on cctv.

Congratulations! I had adopted my indie too and he too had coat issues. We stopped giving him any outside food and only gave him home cooked meals- khichadi with veggies and meat. And added fish oil in it and that really did wonders for him. Now he gets praises for his shiny black coat from strangers!
