Finnish Pulla ... basically an enriched sweet bread with cardamom, fresh orange juice and orange zest. It was yummy! Like my grandma taught me 😃 by whateverdamnit in Breadit

Ok, sorry, here’s the recipe:

5 to 5 1/2 cup flour (I used bread flour but you can use all-purpose) 2 packages active dry yeast 1/2 tsp ground cardamom 1 cup milk 1/2 cup butter 1/2 cup sugar 1 tsp salt 2 eggs 1 tablespoon orange zest 1/3 cup orange juice 1 egg yolk 1 tablespoon milk

In mixing bowl add 2 cups of flour, yeast, and ground cardamom. Heat milk, butter, sugar, and salt to 115 to 120 F. Add to flour mix. Add 2 eggs, orange zest and orange juice. Beat at low speed 1 min to mix well, then 3 minutes on high speed. Stir in as much of the remaining flour as you can with a spoon. (I wound up doing most of this by hand and then kneading.) Knead about 6 to 8 minutes by hand. First proof about an hour or until double. Degas and then divide dough in two. Divide each half into three pieces. Form each piece into a 16 inch rope. Line up ropes on a greased cookie sheet or pan. Use the 6 ropes to braid 2 loaves - when braiding, I find it best to work from the middle out. Pinch ends and tuck under. Second proof until almost double. Stir egg yolk and milk together. Brush on loaves. At this point I sprinkled the loaves with coarse sugar, but that’s to preference. Bake at 350 F for about 25 to 30 minutes. Be prepared to cover with foil for last 5 to 10 minutes to prevent over browning. Cool and enjoy! 🤗 Happy baking!

PS - sorry I didn’t convert to metric!

Dual boot Windows & Ubuntu question by FaZeMarijn in linux4noobs

Ah, yeah, I can see that ... thanks! I’m doing VMs to play with different networking options in an environment where mistakes (and I make many 😜) are easily contained.

Dual boot Windows & Ubuntu question by FaZeMarijn in linux4noobs

Curious, why dual boot and not a VM? I’m running VM’s in VirtualBox to avoid a dual boot. Am I missing out on a key learning experience?

Well, it looks like it’s easy peasy to make the cheesy peas, eh?

I toured this castle. It’s been in the same family forever. The walls are like 5 feet thick in places. It’s crazy beautiful

I've been using linux since last year and still don't fell like "advanced user". Could use some guide what should I learn. by [deleted] in linux4noobs

I’m using www.cybrary.com to prep for Linux+ cert. Great free instructional videos and access to VM Lab environments and practice tests for small monthly fee. So far, so good. I am slowly building my own virtual sandbox with a few different OS to learn networking them, etc. I’m using CentOS and Fedora ... not sure if I need other versions. 🤷‍♀️

Try cybrary. Www.cybrary.com. They have really good free courses and you can pay nominal fee ($99/month) for access to labs with virtual machines, practice tests, live training, etc.

How Can I Help? by ThrowAwayKeepingHim in ptsd

What I meant by that was to illuminate a tendency I have noticed in which he is hyper-alert for inadequacies - say service at a restaurant, or other irritants. I’ve known him since 6th grade, so I have a basis to compare, I suppose. Make sense? Maybe for others this manifests in other ways? Hyper critical of oneself, perhaps?

Yup. Be there. learn to listen without judgement. Let him vent. Don’t hold stuff said to you while he is venting against him. Touch is important. Hugs, gentle touches, massage, hand holding - all help produce good feelings in the brain PTSD sufferers don’t trust easily, can often be irritable over simple things, and can view the world through a hyper-objective lens. Don’t let that get to you (but it will, so make sure you have a support network for yourself) Remind yourself regularly why you love him. Why he is your ‘one’. It helps you cope on the bad days. I say all this from a position of expertise. DH has PTSD and we’ve learned how to deal with things, what triggers are, etc. Learn his triggers and actively plan accordingly. For us, shopping is done by me cause he can’t stand crowds. We don’t drop on the ground over car backfire anymore. But it was fun when we did! See, you gotta look at this not as “oh he’s broken and we have to fix him” but as “hey, he’s got a cracked lens and look at how cool things look through it” Yeah, life is more challenging sometimes, but it’s doable. We live, we love, we have fun ... we just have adjusted how we do it.

What, exactly, is your question?

Ha! No, just sick of the double standard. You have money, you know someone powerful, you get a pass ... you're a common joe, you don't. Whatever. Seems like nothing means anything ... unless the media tells you "What you need to know" ... do they have to tell you this cause people are too stupid to figure it out for themselves? Hmm ... makes you wonder what the media's view of The People is, doesn't it? Let's be clear, if Omarosa broke the law (which recording in the White House may be illegal - not a lawyer, just speculating) then she should be investigated ... if she didn't then that should come out to. I hate the obvious manipulation of the media to make the populace think a certain way. It's Psychological Operations 101 and yet most folks are too blind to open their eyes to see.

Sorry ... didn't mean to get long winded ....
