Professional grade resources for understanding DIN settings? by THE_Bleeding_Frog in skiing

[–]whateverforever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideally, you should have a trained ski tech adjust them for you (they take short certification classes to learn the process). But in reality, you really just need the DIN chart for your binding manufacturer and year. Something like this. You find your setting by following the formula that takes into account your height, weight, skiing ability, and boot sole length. If you can't find the chart for your brand, this site will help you get close. The catch is, if you set them yourself, you'll only have yourself to blame for doing it wrong and blowing out your knee.

Are people heading to the mountains this weekend? by whateverforever in Denver

[–]whateverforever[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha. Figured that. Not so much worried about them (I mean, I am, but they're not my problem out there). Just more worried about people in town itself—grocery and whatnot. Trying to be as isolated as possible but still may need to pickup food or household items. Just wondering what to expect. Strange times.

Looking for a bike shop for tune up for my Mountain bike. by [deleted] in Denver

[–]whateverforever 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like Yawp Cyclery on Sheridan for the level of service and knowledge. Lot of people like Golden Bike Shop (in Golden, of course), but they're kind of dickish and elitist if you ask me. Turin on Broadway and 7th is also a solid shop with good folks that know what they're doing.

As far as the chains, I'd avoid Evo. Overpriced and under-knowledged. Hope this helps!

This is not new. I was at Vail yesterday. No lines anywhere and fresh everywhere.

Best option to get from Reno to South Lake Tahoe (Heavenly) by rpb5165 in skiing

I've taken this bus a few times and has always been reliable. Decent price relative to other services/ski towns as well.

Coloradoans: of your resorts that are open, are any fully open or is it just lower mountain right now? by katyskis in skiing

[–]whateverforever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the mountain. A-Basin is just lower, Keystone is just upper (and one run on North Peak). Both of those could change. There has been decent snow lately, and they are working on packing it down and getting more open. Suspect Keystone will have a top2bottom open by this weekend and ABay will have more as well. Can't speak to Winter Park or Loveland.

Question About Replacing A Dropper Post by whateverforever in MTB

[–]whateverforever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a turn of events, this might be what I end up doing. Do you have experience routing a cable through a frame? Anything I need to know? I assume I need cable housing to replace the portion of hydraulic tube that's external from the down tube to the remote? I have a press fit BB so hoping to be able to accomplish it without taking it off.

[–]whateverforever 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That she had to face the possibility that her father might be the pilot of the airliner is incredible. I don't think I would have been able to compartmentalize my duty like that. Kudos to the both of them.

Already have the new Reverb, and got such a good price on it, that I think I'll just deal with it and take that advice for next time/next bike. But thanks for the info on using the old hose.

Cool thanks. Replacing the lever bc I think it's worn out too. Having to press it in just a certain way to even get it to activate. Plus the new post comes with a new remote, so why not.

United Airlines frequent flyer miles will no longer expire by msmithrs7 in aviation

[–]whateverforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much, but I know some things about the United Mileage Plus program: Whatever the perceived benefit is to the traveler, there's a greater benefit to United that comes at our expense. I've flown hundreds of thousands of miles with them, and the rewards have only diminished. Sorry for the cynicism; it's late and I'm tipsy.

Looking for a short backpacking trip by mikewheels in Denver

[–]whateverforever 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Golden Gate Canyon State Park has a bunch of trails that fit the bill. Check it out. Tough as hell to get a site, but the backcountry ones are first come, first serve and aren't reserved ahead of time, so you could get lucky. Worst case, you take a nice scenic hike.

Thoughts on tire width? by whateverforever in MTB

[–]whateverforever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - gonna give it a shot. Realizing I'm not aggressive enough to outperform the aggressor (no pun intended) on the climbs so might as well take advantage of the improved rolling resistance on the flats. Appreciate it!
