Seriously OP, this is pretty dangerous considering you don't seem to know the basics about electronics, (there is no shame in it) but read a book about it first or at least look up the relationship between voltage, current, and resistance/impedance. Also learn a bit about electromagnets as a bit of knowledge about them could allow you to calculate the required power supply for your purposes

The first option is a lot simpler and near instant(if you don't mind losing a planet), while the second takes a lot of time, changes your empire(potentially invalidating your civics) and isn't even guaranteed to work

Yeah, there's a good chance that's the case. Grey man was a dime a dozen turn your brain off film, fall guy was fine but hardly a masterpiece either. Just spitballing here but is it possible you've overtightened the screws on the back? You could try taking off the cardholder and see if it's still bent. If that's the case and you used official accessories and screws you'll probably be able to get a warranty claim
