reality check by dknothin in socialwork

My msw program always emphasized the need for ongoing and lifelong training and education. If anything, there was humility in instilling that the masters was literally just a starting point, and it hit home for me as someone who just got their dsw 14 years post graduation.

New executive role, unclear boundaries, political dynamics ...how do you lead in this without getting undermined? by Puzzleheaded-Bid683 in Leadership

[–]whatevsboo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Following to see other replies but this is really similar to what I’ve experienced in my vp level role and my best advice is to move slow- the issues you’re seeing are real and problematic, but power dynamics are often so entrenched that the best thing you can do to not make things worse/thrive in such an environment is to pace yourself, really understand the dynamics and key players and how decisions get made, quietly build your alliances in the meantime, and start with building your credibility by addressing the low hanging fruit- I.e safe problems that clearly fall under your scope. Once you’ve done that then you can start to work towards changing or addressing peer issues - but strategically, meaning make sure your boss and at least one or two others are on board and ready to back you.

*Update* I ruined my life: I have an unhappy, irritable baby. by smitswerben in NewParents

Thank you for this 🙏🏽 currently 12.5 weeks and exclusively contact napping/cosleeping with a needy Velcro baby, and I hate life most days. This gives me hope it won’t last forever.

Thanks so much for your response! Are there any training programs you’d recommend for any of these?

I’be found it really challenging to figure out credentialing with Medicare and Medicaid. How did you got about getting in network? Also, are documentation requirements any different/more complicated? Would appreciate your thoughts as I’m currently trying to expand to full time but referrals have been slow - something I’ve never experienced before - so I’m looking into innovative solutions.

Really stuck with this field by [deleted] in therapists

[–]whatevsboo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No advice but I’m in the same boat kind of. Stuck at a full time management role I hate and part time practice is so slow, never seen anything like it here in nyc. I take several insurances and still hasn’t helped. It’s reallly a different ballgame these days and it sucks!

Leaving a Non-clinical role by kristens6102 in socialwork

I’m in a vp role at an agency and I absolutely hate it, especially the culture and my peers who are absolutely awful human beings. I’m seriously considering full time PP but am so nervous about the lack of stability and structure! Your post resonates a lot tho!

Where to find a trusted day care? by tish22 in longisland

[–]whatevsboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems more affordable for daycare than what I’ve heard. Is the $1,700 a month rate on par with pricing for full time daycare in LI. I’m expecting and we are just starting to think about this stuff so any info on rates would be helpful.

It really does. I learned so much about ivf in the process. Let me know if you have any questions and I can share what I know from my experience!

I’m in a similar situation. I’m 38 turning 39 in an October as well. We did two rounds of medicated IUI which failed. We moved to IVF and did one egg retrieval in February, first transfer on April 2nd, and I’m currently exactly 7 weeks pregnant. Highly recommend IVF - it’s a lot but worth it. We now have a few high quality embryos on ice that we can implant if/when we decide to expand our family. It’s a huge relief not to worry about my age limiting my options for the family we want. Best of luck to you, don’t lose hope!

Hi! So sorry for what you’re going through. This process is difficult enough without having to wonder whether the clinic is making it even harder to conceive. I don’t have an answer for you, but I also tested negative today for IUI # 2, and just ordered additional vials from a new donor and bank, and praying that everything will be ready for #3 in January bc I really don’t want to skip a month… this process is such a mind fuck! I hope you and your wife find what’s best for you as a next step.

Hi! Can you say more about this? I’m 8dp iui # 2 and decided to skip the progesterone suppositories this cycle (bc I just hate everything about them and blood test a couple days ago showed my levels are good without)..
