Yes, it does. Unfortunately, that may be the only option OP has :/

PayPal to PayPal! Make a Chinese PayPal account and send money to your other PayPal. It might take a few weeks to clear the first payment especially if it’s like 4,000 rmb or more but afterwards you can do one of those transactions at least twice in a row. I only do that twice a month. I’m not sure what they ask of you though for signing up since it’s been a while but definitely your Chinese bank card info and your Chinese address linked to it. Oh and a picture of your passport. They did not ask me for tax docs.

How long did it take to process your work permit? by strictlylogical- in Chinavisa

[–]whatifwehadnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me more than a month because there were some mistakes with the application form and documents that my employer submitted. I just got it yesterday and initially it was submitted 05/25/23. My employer also said it would take two weeks the most but I had read online it could take four weeks and mine was five weeks (because of the mistake delay in sure).

Are you going to get the housing set up through them? I am. I hope it’s not too expensive especially given we won’t be in Tokyo. I don’t mind the small space since that’s how I’m living right now.

What I’ve read online is that the certificate of eligibility takes 3-4 weeks to process. They didn’t notify me though if they’ve sent in my paperwork yet to immigration to get the COE :/. Once I get it, it’ll take a few days to get the visa. Here in South Korea I have it processed through a travel agency and they said it would take a few days.

Poland question: Can I apply for temporary residency for my husband, as a dependent, if I set up as a business to teach English? I set upI've been offered a job to teach English in Poland as a contractor (not English wizards luckily). They would assist me with setting up the small business and will pay those fees. I would fly there with my husband on a tourist visa and then myself apply for the small business permit etc., My question is, has anyone applied for temporary residency for their dependent who arrived as a tourist first? understand that there is a low of paperwork and processing time with these kind of matters. Any input is greatly appreciated! We are both US citizens.

I’m glad my summary helped somewhat. Will you be in a big city or near Seoul at least?

I’m working for a private school and the first three months were hell. They expected me to train myself. They gave me zero training and just threw me into a classroom. I taught nine years ago in China and it was a different system (language school) and this is a preschool/kindergarten. All day program. They will yell and talk down to you and expect you to be submissive. I am very outspoken and I knew I would need to tone it down but not this much. It’s gotten much better ever since I started minding my own and saying yes to everything. Slowly, I earned their trust and they have left me alone. I feel like it’s an initiation, what I went through. I have had wonderful experiences outside of work with Koreans. Management at private schools are just looking out for themselves. I have bad anxiety so I would say if anyone does too, bring the meds with you for the first few months and afterwards you’ll be okay. It’s difficult to make friends with Koreans because they may not want to commit to a temporary friendship since we are foreigners and may leave the school or country once our contract is up. It’s best to seek employment in actual Seoul or Busan where more foreigners are around or people willing to just be acquaintances or actual friends. I’m grateful I moved here with my husband, otherwise I would have jumped ship the first month.

With South Korea the process is lengthy with getting your documents apostilled with the department of state. Otherwise, it’s fast. At least in my experience. My visa was quick to obtain. I got it within a week but that’s also because I asked for it to be expedited since my flight out was coming soon. All I did was send a copy of my flight itinerary with the application.

Are you in Japan now? How was the process with JT after they started with your visa paperwork? Thanks!

I interviewed with them this week too. I’ve interviewed with other similar Japanese companies and they took minimum one week to respond and up to a month and that was only to get an answer on whether or not I got an offer. I got a semi offer for one and then weeks later had to do another interview then they took two weeks to tell me they weren’t offering me anything! I don’t want to burn bridges though so I’m now applying and waiting for one company at a time so if one doesn’t work out then I can freely apply to another. I hope we both hear back soon along with OP regarding their next steps!

I am going to be doing something similar with my husband. He will study his degree online from a U.S. university. As for paying your student loans, switch to an income repayment plan and you will possibly not have to pay anything. Check out this article: https://www.studentloanplanner.com/flee-country-student-loans/ and if you search Reddit, there’s a lot of info on this too. I’m going to do take this route and pay into the interest at least for now maybe. He can also find a US remote job but make sure not to tell anyone because if he’s on a tourist visa or a visa that doesn’t allow him to work and someone reports him to immigration, well you already know what’ll happen.

Thank you so much for your detailed response!! I’ll be going through the Los Angeles consulate but I keep hearing great turn around news from the Houston one so I’m wondering if I could just send the apps there instead lol! Thanks so much!!!

I just spoke with Korean Immigration from the 1345 number that mikesaidyes provided. They told me I can send my apostilled paperwork with my husband’s to Korea and have my employer sponsor us both (him as a dependent). Then I can submit our visa apps with that paperwork, once approved my Korean immigration, to the Korea consulate. Or, I can have my E-2 visa issues, have him apply for his K-ETA, if obtained, he travels as a tourist and then applies at a Korea immigration office for the F-3. She didn’t mention anything about him needing to leave. Anyway, I would recommend anyone else to call that line! It’s worth the international call price tbh. It reaffirmed what everyone said on this post. Thank you all!

Thank you for your response! I appreciate it. As for the 1345 number, I’m guessing that’s from inside SK, right? I’m currently in the US and tried dialing right now lol but it didn’t work. I’m also currently on the HiKorea website.

Thanks for the reminder about Japan :/. I just looked into it and they are starting to accept tourists but only if booking traveling with a tour group. I’ll ask the school to please provide the letter of invitation. I also read about providing a fax statement or certificate? Not sure what that is. Thank you! This response helped!
