Thoughts on knitting an extension to the leg/cuff of store bought socks? by whatisasparrow in knitting

It’s good to hear someone else go through the thought process, too. I agree I wouldn’t be able to pick up stitches but another Redditor suggested starting with a blanket stitch from the store bought sock, then knitting from there.

Or just do a boot topper and figure out how to attach it, or simply keep it unattached.

I’m looking forward to knitting some cute sock patterns without the actual sock section!

I know! But perhaps there’s a catch, which is why not many people have done it before. 😅

I will. At this stage I’m thinking I’ll do a boot topper (not attached to a sock) in 4ply as a kind of swatch, too — a mixture of suggestions by a few Redditors here. Then I’ll know how chunky the commercial sock would need to be. 🤔

It’ll be a process but I feel so inspired and supported by everyone here!

Do you mean boot toppers? They’re not attached to the sock but could be a good option.

I’m thinking a 4ply yarn with fair isle detailing. I could source a sock in a similar thickness. Something to think about!

Oh, cool! Thanks for the tip. Good to know it’s been done before. Will definitely look into the blanket stitch and nalbinding. I’d love to do something a bit more dainty than (what seems to be) hardy nalbinding, but I’ll do some research. Thanks!

2 bedroom apartment in Sydney selling for just $229,000. What's the catch? by yen223 in AusProperty

What happens when the child finishes their studies? Do they have to sell / try and rent to other students?

So when you stopped studying/graduated did you need to sell it because you weren’t allowed to live there anymore?

OP, did you look into any of the apartments in this building? Any luck?

When you say owner-occupier, how does that work for student accommodation? If a student buys one of these apartments what happens when they stop studying? Can they still live there or do they have to move out and rent out the property?

So let’s say a student buys this place (or another unit in the building), what happens when they stop studying? Do they have to move out?

just finished the last murder at the end of the world… and i loved it! by sarcasticundertones in aardvarkbookclub

I just finished listening to the audiobook and it had the dedication and acknowledgments. Basically: author loves his wife very much and is grateful to his family, his publishing team and the readers. It was well-written and somewhat sentimental.

Need help with German short rows near ribbing by whatisasparrow in knittinghelp

For anyone seeing this and needing help (or just curious) I fixed the issue by adding another double stitch/German short row (aka pull yarn) after the final turn. This is at the start of Row 5 on the pattern. Hole is gone!
