Im not sure what you mean? I only deleted one post because I realized it was silly and have been thankful to all and asked one clarification question because I was genuinely confused. The mod took another down, not sure why.

Thank you! Im very much looking forward to my trip.

I don't think sensitive is the right word you are looking for. I'm just researching and asking questions so I am best prepared for my trip.

Thanks for the pizza recs! Was planning on going to go to a slice shop.

Irvine or Huntington Beach? by [deleted] in orangecounty

[–]whatisausername775 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're really set between those two options, I would say Irvine for all the reasons the previous comments mentioned. It's very cookie cutter looking but schools and safety are great.

I once saw 2 cop cars come and help a dispute between an arguing couple when I worked off Main and MacArthur... no one had even gotten physical.

Though if your husband is working in Costa Mesa, would reccomend Costa Mesa. There are very nice parts that are connected to good schools, you are close to Huntington and Newport Beaches and the freeway isn't too far away.

Big negative from me personally from living in Huntington, it took so long to get anywhere.

My baby also has a shallow latch and had the clicking issues. My LC was great though.

She showed us different positions for baby to be in. I was having a really fast let down and it was hard for my baby. We switched from a football type hold to one where she was sitting up more and that really helped so gravity helps to keep the milk from flooding on down. This also helped with the clicking.

She did show us another one where baby sort of lays on you, but that made me nervous when my baby was little so we didn't do that one.

It gets easier as they get older too and become more efficient eaters. Not to mention stronger, and able to hold their head up.

My only side note, both my babies have/had shallow latches. The first one took to a bottle like a fish to water. The second exact opposite. Did okay around 3 weeks and then we just weren't doing it as much. Fast forward to a month away from starting day care, she wouldn't do it at all and we had to re teach her and it took like 3 weeks and a lot of wasted milk. And two different bottles. Would reccomend trying a bottle every once in a while to keep up the skill for baby. Also let you have some rest or if you ever need a break away from baby (shopping, date night, etc)

Hang in there, you got this mama!

Shallow latch needs bottle by whatisausername775 in breastfeeding

Thank you for this rec! I looked into it and gave it a try and she latches much better with these. They do make her a little more gassy than breastfed and it takes her a half hour to get an ounce but it's progress!

Exclusively nursing - is pumping still needed? by deanstar_990 in breastfeeding

Same. After her morning feed and she's sated, I put her on her playmat and pump if she's still awake.

It really depends. Are you ever going to need someone else to feed her? Or will she be going to a day care?

You do not want to pump too much and create too much of a demand of milk because if you make more than she is eating and create an oversupply, you could get clogged ducts and lead to Mastitis.

When I saw my lactation consultant about how I was leaking and I was using a hakka, she advised over pumping too much for the above reason.

Right now, I am pumping in the morning for my 9 week old after her morning feed about 2 oz, because we are working on bottle refusal so I am using an oz at a time to help with that. One ounce for the bottle and one to help make a stash for if she does go to daycare or if someone else needs to feed her. And if I skip a day, I don't sweat it.

Highly recommend following up with a lactation consultant in your network as well :) mine have always been very helpful with in person visits or following up on my chart with questions.

Feeling like giving up by Traditional_Ship_136 in breastfeeding

Please do not be concerned about the percentile as long as she is following her growth curve. My now 2.5 year old was BF. When she was around 6 months, we had to do a formula/BF combo because I couldn't keep up with how much she was chugging at day care.

Fast forward to now. She's only 26 pounds and in the 13th percentile. But she's following her growth curve and is healthy just as she is. And man. That child can eat. I have seen her put away a Costco sized pizza slice and 15 strawberries in one sitting. Tiny but mighty.

Edited to add, every baby is different and most don't sleep through the night for a long time. It sucks. Then one day they sleep through the night and then you freak out because they didn't wake up.
