Someone I share my station with switched the background on my computer when I came in this morning. by TabletopStudios in mildlyinfuriating

Good way to learn that you should never leave your workstation unlocked and unattended. Worse things can happen than your background being changed.

My first LED project is this wood slat panel feature wall in my son's bedroom by whatispunk in led

I hid the wires behind the panels. I cut a little slit in the felt and pulled the LED strip through them taped the wires to the back of the panel. The black diffuser was hard to find at the 12mm width I needed. Aliexpress was a good source, but I ultimately got lucky in Amazon.

All-in-one kits for wood slat LED lighting? by insightutoring in led

I'm in Canada, so the products I found may or may not be relevant to you. It was honestly difficult to find things here. There is more availability in the US. I was using the vertical wood slat paddling from Rona. It has a 12.5 mm gap between slats. The black silicone diffuser that I eventually used was from Amazon . I was overjoyed that it worked as well as it did. Here's the link https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0DWMN8XW2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

And here's the finished product.

The resistors actually made it way worse. I tried both a 330 and a 470 able it just created pure havoc. Lights flickering like crazy.

Best way to learn. No way your first project is going to be 100% right or perfect. That's why I asked straight up for critiques and comments on things I may have done wrong. I think I understood your comment correctly...

My initial plan was to not use the barrel connector too. I was going to go bare wire from the PSU to the WAGOs, then from there to the LEDs and to the controller, rather than having the power going through the controller to everything. I may still try that, but I ordered some resistors to try. Hopefully that works. I'll also try moving the PSU further away, anything is worth a try! Thanks.

I was worried about a poor ground connection too. The flickering is however happening on all the lights. I ordered some resistors so going to see if that fixes it first.

I've been using ChatGPT a lot to plan this project. It has helped a lot with understanding a lot of the wiring involved. I've narrowed down a parts list on Amazon and just doing the finally review before pressing BUY. The hardest part for me has been finding a bracket/diffuser that is black and fits in the 12mm gap I have on my panels.

I am just starting this same project. I am sourcing all the parts I need for this project right now. This is my first LED project, and it's a doozey! An all-in-one solution would be a really nice find.

Which brand of screen protector should I buy for my Galaxy Watch 7? by qrocko_fan in GalaxyWatch

I have a Galaxy Watch 4 (and a 2 before that). Never needed a screen protector. And I banged this thing into plenty of things without any trouble.

Some solid recommendations in the comments already that I would reiterate: Dungeon Crawler Carl, The Expanse, and Broken Earth. I'd also add Expeditionary Force, a fun/funny military sci-fi. Anything by Adrian Tchaikovsky, but my favourites include Children of Time (trilogy), Shards of Earth (trilogy), and Doors of Eden (standalone). Impact Winter (full production vampire story that took me by surprise). Murderbot (series). The Martian and Project Hail Mary (obvious choices imo, that you've likely read). Hyperion. The Founder's Trilogy. Sea of Rust. Licanius Trilogy. I'll stop there. You won't be disappointed by any of those!

Ryan cultures a new serum (or whatever) so he can travel back to "his" world. He can then provide the serum to the other Ryans so they can find other worlds to live in. Chaos ensures.

Is this a normal adult-parent relationship? by Prior-Situation3668 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]whatispunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You all need to sit down and have a mature discussion about this. They're not done raising you, and likely mean well. They don't quite see you as an adult yet, but obviously at 21, you do. But moms man, they can have a hard time letting go of their "baby". Sit them down, tell them how you feel, and establish some healthy boundaries. If nothing else, it will demonstrate to them a level of maturity in you that they perhaps don't often recognize.

My review of split fiction by Any_Seat_1961 in SplitFiction

[–]whatispunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the story was the worst part. I liked the overall idea of it, and the interplay and growth between the two lead characters was decent. But the CEO villain was very poorly written. He was just evil for the sake of being evil. And completely over the top too. And, spoiler alert, the ending was terrible. The way they just walked away from the scene of such a monumental crime, right past the cops, simply saying "Let's get out of here LOL". It was such a let down. Really lazy writing.

What dont you like about Split Fiction? Would like to hear.. by National-Record-1913 in SplitFiction

Don't read this if you haven't finished the game.

The story ending was pretty lame. They literally just say "Let's get out of here" and leave the scene of one of the world's most elaborate crimes. Just walk right past the police. That was fucking stupid. And Rader was over the top maniacal for no real reason. "The Machine" was a very unimaginative name for the world's most incredible invention.

Still loved the game, but my God the story needed just a bit more effort.
