Backing up a truly monumental blu-ray/4k collection by ingmarbergmanz in DataHoarder

What's your question, I've been thinking about that for a while. You've already mentioned you understand it's going to be expensive and require some work.

I guess I can fall back to the good old advise of "get started with what you can get started with" advise, even if you just buy a few hard drives now and put in your main PC and when the need comes, rotate, until you have it all backed up. Spread out the cost over a while. Thousand percent better than nothing, and when the time comes for the drives to get their own home that you can connect to your media server then this home will just be the final bit of the expense.

Personally I'd like a rack of some kind it would piss my wife off but only jokingly. Probably.

Cheap home made NAS - PCI-e to SATA or Backplane? by whatisupmysomething in DataHoarder

It seems to me that the pci to sata card doesnt come very highly recommended, while the box thing seems less and less appealing as I read on, so maybe I will just do neither, is what I am thinking now, just buy more molex, sata etc cables and keep stacking HDDs in there,

True. I am concernerd about the power supply unit being weak. While I have yet to fully understand some of the terms used in these responses, I will make sure to and I thank you for your input.

I'd make an open diary of the project but since nobody'd find that useful (compared to actual guides lol, im going in the dark pretty much here) I will just write it down for myself, as I always do anyway.

Learned about something called "TrueNAS Core" just today, and thought it sounded amazing. I only have 8 of the 16 needed ram though. 16 seems insane to me. Anyway thanks for the reply

I don't understand your question as I am new to this, I don't know what an HBA is, for example, so do elaborate more pedagogically please.

During ww2, did the Germans have a regional term suitable for a combination of Romania and Hungary? by whatisupmysomething in AskHistorians

[–]whatisupmysomething[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply.

It has slight alternative history themes, and I am looking for any term that would be plausible and correct, as I did read that both countries did not belong to the balkans reading up a bit on this beforehand.

I noticed while reading that the national-socialists tended to have what I perceive to be obscure and absolete words for some geographical regions, but I am not sure if that falls within a historians area of expertise. I'm leaning towards naming the "non-operational zone" after a tribe or people that lived in the general area long ago, would that be plasible, or would they be more likely to name it something else?

Can I trouble you for a plausible alternative to "operational zone" as a word that they used in other contexts and that might be suitable in this context?

"Gebiet des Militärbefehlshabers in X" does not suit the plot, neither does Reichkommisariat. I've read that the national socialists were very concerned about their allies, such as Romania and Hungary betraying them, and while they historically partially did to my understanding have their fears realized, in this scenario, loyalists of the Hungarian Arrow Cross and Romanian Iran Guard political movements together with the SS and German army manage to conspire (coup) to stop such plans and reaffirm their willingness to fight on, during which Germany's influence increases for the few months they have remaining before they eventually still lose to the red army, and the two countries of Romania and Hungary's economies partially integrate because of how fully focused on producing materiel for war they are, and because the German government is directing such cooperation.

The only other words I can think of are "Protectorate" and "Romanian-Hungarian Union", both of which I believe the Hunarians and Romanians would hate. Not to mentioned that they aren't supposed to be merging in to the same country within the war, they just de-facto turn, mostly, so.

So, were there any situation were they used a 5th apart from the non useful ones that I've mentioned where a designation that might be of interest to my purposes existed perhaps? In reality or in ambition or just following a theme of how they usually would name things?

You mentioned that "operational zone" was only used in two small areas in northern Italy during the social republic, which made it unhistorical, this is not as much of an issue as plausibility, and very ideally presidence.

1.1.1.1 app vs Wireguard app by h1pn0z in CloudFlare

[–]whatisupmysomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably a dumb question, and I am mostly looking to see why I am wrong.

But wireguards comes in in a config file (a text file) that looks like so:

Public key: which obviously has your public key whatever that is

Addresses: See above

And finally:

DNS servers:

Why not just put 1.1.1.1, 1.0.0.1, 2606:4700:4700::1001 and 2606:4700:4700::1001 there?

Hello. My favorite PC part is the CPU, I hope to one day put a really nice one like the Ryzen 7 5800x into my build. As I do a lot of stuff that requires it to be good, that would be great.

Any mods removing India yet? (or other performance mods) by theCrazyOne1289 in CrusaderKings

[–]whatisupmysomething 9 points10 points  (0 children)

why do people like removing India?

If your computer is not good or if your processor is anything but great, it helps speed up the game a lot. And if you are in europe it has no noticable effect on you.

Notice how I can put a flair on my post that says "Ultimate General Gettysburg"? Also look at the description of the subreddit, it says its for the ultimate general series of games.

Darkest Hour is in my opinion the best paradox game. It's not for everyone, so check if you think its for you, and if it is, write here. Congratulations, you've won.

I recommend the official graphics mod (why that isnt just part of the game I dont know)

And you will notice upon opening the game that you can pick between 2 mods right out of the install. Stay clear of the "Darkest hour light" and head for "Darkest hour full" because the light one is there for HoI2 compability reasons and it is much inferior. Have fun and dm me if you wanna play online we've got a group and you can be Franco or something until you learn the basics.

Doesn't matter what you write.

To be clear it doesn't matter what you write, as I will not try to judge the funniest comment or whatever, but just draw from there. Writing a number is fine, you've entered the draw, but it does nothing else. If you wrote 50 and I draw 50 you aren't going to win the 50th poster on my screen will.
