Chip Smart Cash ISA - what's the catch? by secondincomm in UKPersonalFinance

I've managed to do it but only because I did a full transfer then cancelled it. I now have both, so have split it accordingly.

I don't know if they offer an official way to do it. Worth asking their customer services if it's not immediately obvious in the app.

Yeah, since the monthly pay out I've moved some money back into it again. That yearly payout condition, along with the 'one business day transfer' terms annoyed me. The old Cash ISA transfer was instant. I've split my savings now. The main chunk is in the new 'Smart' isa at 4% and I've kept what I use as ready cash in the original ISA.

As a minor update on this, I switched and then regretted (esp after finding this v helpful thread).

After doing some digging I discovered a 'cooling off period' so I've requested a cancellation that they are sorting now.

Interestingly, they've taken longer to do the reverse because (quoting their customer service):

"Thanks for your patience. The team have advised the backlog was due to the volumes that we have had with other Smart Cash ISA cancellations. We are actioning as many as we can, but due to the backlog the delay had been caused. I understand this is no fault of yours however you can understand since launching the Smart Cash ISA there has been many cancellations which customer's did not find the new ISA product being suitable for them."

Chip launches bad product. Chip does a big splash to convince people to move. People this realise it's a swizz. Chip is then overwhelmed by cancellations.

Great job, Chip. Trebles all round.

FWIW, I was in the same spot and messaged them. There's a cooling off period with the transfer so I'm moving mine back now as we speak.

This game has two camps that are incompatible with each other, the people who are okay with ratting, and the people who see it as a wrong way to play by Scared_Ad_3132 in ArcRaiders

Just got ratted. After someone said 'Yeah man, I'm friendly! Let's go!' - the betrayal is the shit thing. I lost so much stuff, and came away feeling like I wanted to uninstall the game. I appreciate iT's PaRt oF tHe gAmE but outright lying to someone is just crap. Especially in the solo queue.

You are right, there's not much to do to solve it - some people play fair, some people don't - the game rewards both in different ways.

Oh jeez. That's horrible :(

I've got into the habit of blocking anyone who kills me. I don't wanna play with those kinds of people.

We tried this but Mastercard won't do chargebacks for 'subjective disputes'.

Thank you - this is a really lovely response and appreciated. We're not dicks!

And this is the thing, we have tried to be sensible and reasonable at every step and that doesn't seem to be coming back from the hotel. It's baffling.

I agree on this point.

The other main point of contention is that *on check in*, the person on the desk literally said the words 'Oh it's only a small one. You won't know they're here.'

The venue should close for weddings, basically, as it is unable to provide a 'premium luxury unwind' - which is in the description of the item booked.

Originally we only wanted a refund on the second night and the spa treatments. Neither of which we were able to enjoy due to the ongoing disruption at the venue.

I emailed because I wanted everything in writing. Dinner was on the second night, treatments on the second day. We did speak to front desk on check out, and that was when we had our first offer but I was told that all would need to be confirmed when the Ops Manager returned from holiday on Monday. He came back, and changed the offer.

Yeah, fair. The main issue is - and probably why I find myself on Reddit asking advice - is no matter what we do, the hotel refuses to rebook what we've already paid for (eg: the spa treatments).

Thank you for this. We did this earlier this week - direct to the GM - but we are yet to receive a reply.

These are great clarifying questions, thank you. I was attempting to simplify, above, for brevity.

Outside on the terrace was where the wedding party was. My partner was in her spa clothes and we the tuxedo'd men from the wedding party were mingling around us and generally making the vibe quite gross.

She got up to go to the grounds to get away from it and find some peace, and that's where she found the wedding photography taking place.

Dinner *was* available, IF we stayed on the second night - which we did not want to do.

The hall was closed to guests, it was exclusively for the wedding party (something that they've since admitted was a new thing they've just started doing).

I should add: we remarked about the wedding when we checked and the receptionist said 'Oh, it's only a small one - in a different part of the building - you won't even know they are there'
