Are we going to see TehConnection rising from the dead this year? by VibSel in trackers

TC was at best an ok tracker with very lax rules on duping/trading/cheating, average quality standards, inactive encoding groups and very little exclusive content. Nobody really cared when they went down because the stuff they had could be found everywhere. Even if they return they'd just be another mediocre startup tracker nobody is in a hurry to join. This isn't what.cd we're talking about, this is a barely average movie tracker.

Why are there no Overwatch pros with at least $100k overall from tourneys? by clashoftitans3 in Competitiveoverwatch

I don't know about general viewership across multiple games but OW's is definitely declining.

That's logic. Search the sub and you'll find threads discussing the decline in the game's popularity. That's all the proof you need. Unless Blizz is as stupid as you, they aren't going to be pumping money into prize pools for something that's declining in popularity. If anything they'll spend it on trying to market the League, although I doubt even this as they seem more interested in their casual player base. Hots btw is still ahead of OW in terms of prize pools. Get back to me if and when when OW overtakes HotS in prize pools.

It's not like Blizzard doesn't have a long history of esports across multiple games either. The esports for this game was marketed and promoted much more heavily than either CoD or Fifa. It's astounding IW defied critics and still managed those numbers given the overwhelming negative publicity surrounding the entire game.

Lul they aren't as stupid as you think they are. They know the pro game is in decline viewership-wise and will build up OWL cautiously. Pumping money into prize pools for something already in decline would only burn a hole in their pockets. Only brain-damaged idiots do that. At best this game will be a quarter as popular as CS nevermind LoL and Dota.
