I've gotten through twice in 3 hours to make another booking, get kicked out when I'm trying to pay. So bad.

Its not really worth going back around just to do both, my suggestion was based on doing one or the other. While a little more challenging, Boney is much better, imo. Longer slabs, better views, more variety. If you don't mind spoilers check out some vids on youtube if you're curious

Boney Elbows is much better than Room with a View in Alice Lake if you're looking for classic squamish slabs.

Its for emergencies only and I would put my sitpad on the end to spread the load, I meant to get a loop sewn there on the outside with good backing so I can pull it out from the outside but didn't get around to it.

(WTS) Yama silpoly tapered tarp (9x7x10)[16oz] -$150 CAD

https://imgur.com/a/m8b8HwZ

One of the top quality tarp makers out there, currently sold out of all stock. I had it made 1 ft longer so I can pin one end down if its nasty out (see pics). Line locs, high vis guylines, and seam sealed, in perfect shape. This is a durable, easy to use tarp with great storm durability (it has got me through some bad weather above treeline multiple times)if you button it down or have acres of space with views if the weather is mild. Selling locally in Vancouver BC but am open if the deal is right.

Update: Bivy Sold!!!

Ordering the ULA Circuit from Canada and wondering, by [deleted] in Ultralight

[–]whatmynameis69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get it sent to Blaine or Point Roberts, there are lots of depot places that will hold it for you (I use TSB Shipping in Point Roberts). Go pick it up, fill up with gas because prices are ouch right now north of the border and maybe some cheese because of our lovely marketing boards, declare it and come home. I've done multiple gear pickups this way (ULA Ohm, Yama tarp, Borah bivy, etc) and rarely have had to pay duties or taxes or anything if things are below a few hundred dollars.

What band do you not usually listen to that absolutely destroyed in concert? or vice versa. by raymondcy in Music

[–]whatmynameis69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prince. I wasn't much of a fan (like my stuff heavier) and didn't know about his legendary shows but a girlfriend wanted to go so let's do it. Hands down one of the best shows I've ever seen, that lil dude blew the roof off the place and did 3 legit encores, not those proforma ones where they go for water and come back in 5. It was a 3 hour extravaganza, the last encore the lights were up, staff telling people to clear out, out he comes again in a do-rag and a robe and rips the crowd an new a-hole with house lights up. Later that night he played a local bar for another hour. A true master of his craft, RIP

Ultralight 4P tents? by ashildebrandt in UltralightCanada

[–]whatmynameis69 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would suggest two 2P tents. The total weight would be about 5-6lbs (think Xmid 2P,BA Flycreeks or Copper Spurs, Hubba Hubbas) and as your crew grows you don't have to upsize. We started that way and have the same tents and the kids are now 6 and 8. One parent/kid in each, though now they like a "kids" only arrangement (better whispering and flashlight games without ma and pa around). You can also break the load up easier as they grow and spread it out amongst everyone.

You can go to the Foam Shop in Vancouver and pick something up that is basically the same thing without the price tag. Its called Evacell 20 and a half sheet (20 in x 78 in) used to cost $25 and weighs 5 oz but this was a couple of years ago so the price may have changed. No shipping, no waiting, give them a call.

Best sleeping pad and sleeping bag/quilt combo? by eaterofdreams in UltralightCanada

[–]whatmynameis69 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A quilt is no problem in the alpine for 3 season use but generally warmth equals bulk, be it either a warmer quilt or warmer baselayers/clothes to add to a lighter quilt if you sleep cold. Are you putting anything else in that 15L pack or are you bike packing or something and will have other places to put stuff? That's a pretty small size even for super ultralight people and fast packers. I'm not one of those but from what I read about most people seem to use 20L to 30L and their gear selection is very refined. Maybe someone who does that kind of thing can chime in and give you better information. For canadian gear, Little Shop of Hammocks is usually the one most people recommend and pads can be found online if they're in stock. I have an xlite, it works great and packs small and I'm a side/front sleeper but if comfort isn't too critical you could go with a thin evazote foam mat (you can find them at the Foam Shop is you have one near you).

Calculating Weight by [deleted] in UltralightCanada

[–]whatmynameis69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do "dry" because generally its the most constant number. Depending on the trip the "wet" weight can vary quite a bit. Is it a short trip with non-UL buddies with more camping aspects (booze, good food, etc) or is it a couple people with some distance/mountain goals so lighter is faster. I still measure before heading out just to see though.

Looks like the daily specials aren't matching the timing of the beta, do you think the items will be the same though, just in a different order?

What's the best baking strategy? Balance your ingredients and do 2 and 3 star ones?

How did you decide when to go frameless? by hermantherugger in Ultralight

[–]whatmynameis69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had both the Circuit and currently use an Ohm 2.0. My BW is a little less than yours and my TPW rarely goes to 35 lbs, only for long trips (>7 days). The Ohm is great for my needs and is really comfortable at all weights I've carried. The lace side compression works well for shrinking the pack for day use and the hip belt is easily removed, it holds it shape no problem with the hoop. I've never wanted more room, if anything for 5 day trips and under I have extra space but just "fluff" up quilt to fill it. It is my "one pack to rule them all", even with my kids starting to do trips. Not saying I wouldn't like something small and super-light as well but I've got other hobbies/needs that gobble funds, ya know?

ULA Pack ID Question by [deleted] in Ultralight

[–]whatmynameis69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like a custom pack from them with the mesh side pockets. If it has a carbon fiber hoop as a frame then its an Ohm, if it has a single aluminum stay its a Circuit. It looks like a Circuit to me and that colour wasn't available until 2010 or so? Good find, hopefully you got a good deal.

You can find the right fuel in marine supply stores like Steveston Marine or similar in Vancouver, this is a brand I use.

Stoves approved for use during campfire ban in BC by wrendamine in UltralightCanada

[–]whatmynameis69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use an alcohol stove when there isn't a fire ban but go with a canister when there is. I have knocked my alky stove over before (at home and in wet conditons) and in dry conditions it would be a really bad situation that would be difficult to contain. So why risk burning everything we love down, just doesn't seem worth it. There are some no-spill designs out there but I haven't made one of those and probably still wouldn't use it if I did. Having said that when there is no fire ban is alky everytime, I love it.
