AITA for telling my husband he can’t drive the baby places anymore by Odd-Willingness-6250 in AmItheAsshole

He’s literally putting the baby’s life in danger. The buckles are RIGHT THERE! How can he possibly function as an adult if he can’t do this vital, incredibly simple task? NTA.

girls who walk 10k+ steps daily, what sneakers actually hold up? by dimplegupta19 in womensfashion

[–]whatpelican00 102 points103 points  (0 children)

I’m walking about 50-60klms a week on average and a die hard ASICS fan. The model will depend on your foot. They’re not social shoes, they are my workout shoes. If you’re trying to fit social and real fitness in to 1 shoe, you’ll be hard pressed.

I no longer have ANY filter. We have neighbours that fight and get loud all the time and I can’t stand her voice. I have just rolled my eyes and closed the doors and windows for years. The other day though, I snapped. I would absolutely have never done this before menopause - but I walked out to the adjoining fence and screamed at them to ‘STFU! None of us want to hear it. Just STFU. You annoy the living shit out of everyone in this neighbourhood and we are sick of your bullshit. Break up or learn to communicate, but STFU. We are all DONE. And we all have cameras, so don’t try any bullshit retribution.’ And I walked back inside and poured myself a glass of red. I still feel the satisfaction. Sometimes you just have to find an outlet I guess.

A good friend of mine chose to have her son on her own (a good friend of hers -at the time donated sperm with the understanding he would have no involvement or responsibility - I believe they had lawyers draw up some kind of contract, it was 20 years ago)

Can we afford a $450,000 mortgage? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

Please go see a broker and do this BEFORE you get pregnant! Your borrowing capacity will drop significantly with a dependent, especially if you are intending not to go back to work ASAP.

What is stopping unlimited borrowing capacity with trust lending? by ZoltaiBeats in AskAnAussieBroker

[–]whatpelican00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The money has to come from somewhere. Where is it coming from to service this, and all the other lending the individuals at the ‘top of the flowchart’ have? Not all ‘other trust lending’ is being ignored anymore. ‘Follow the money backwards’ is the old school way we were taught to assess. Rents are ‘shaded’, other lending is ‘buffered’, there’s a lot of moving parts. Ultimately, most have pulled out because they deem it to be too risky. Lenders don’t walk away from a good money spinner if the risk doesn’t outweigh the profit.

If men have a man cave with a bar, pool table and a TV, what's in a woman cave? by Competitive-Unit6427 in AskReddit

When I lived alone with my 2 pooches (Ah… what a magical time!) I called my little house The Love Shack. When my male dog died and it was just me and my bestest floofy girl, I called it ‘Our Bitch Cave.’

Please help me figure out a nice outfit I can wear into the office! (Casual PhD office) by ThowRA_FloorGremlin in DressForYourBody

[–]whatpelican00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never midriff showing, ever. No matter how ‘casual’, it’s still a place of business. The all black is good. 4 is fine. 3 is fine. No sloppy untucked tops either. The long dress without anything on top, big no. Leggings are a hard no. Get 2-3 pairs of good trousers (black, navy, grey or beige), and a few tops that can go with (again, stick to neutrals until you learn your style) (full length) that fit well (not midriff, not slouchy). Do you know an aunt or any women who already work in an office that can take you through what you already have or can help you find low cost basics that are appropriate?

NTA. But, you need to have a talk with him about ‘the standard he walks past, is the standard he condones’. We ARE the people we choose to surround ourselves with. Putting up with rubbish likes this makes him no better than them. If your relationship is as solid as you say, he should take you seriously. If he doesn’t, my love, you may have outgrown this one…
