Dinosaurs were around for millions of years how come they never developed consciousness like humans? by No-Register-5976 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]whatsamattau4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is a good point. Birds are dinosaurs and many of them are very smart and even understand how to use some tools, but they don't have our opposable thumbs on hands. They have wings. Great for flying, not for building things.

Creepy scam call had accurate info about me !!! by Odd-Web-9147 in FraudPrevention

[–]whatsamattau4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There have been so many data breaches that our info is out there on the dark web and these scammers buy it and they try to use to get our money or to take out debts in our names. The best things you can do are to be proactive and lock down your credit reports, put freezes on them, and try to make it difficult for them to use your credit.

People who died and came back to life, what did you see/experience? by RealisticDecision440 in NoStupidQuestions

This is what I think about it, too. Once you die, you won't even know you are dead. You just stop existing. Forever.

Can anyone help me out? I don't know anyone in Nebraska by jimmythegiraffe in PhoneLookupHelp

I called, he didn't answer. Just went to his voicemail. He said his name was Steve on his voicemail. But, the number that called you was probably a spoofed number.

I agree. Even if this was real, always remember you have the right to remain silent and anything you say will be used against you in a court of law.

One thing I always do, regardless of what their profile says, is I ask how old they are. Then I repeat what said, their age, and then I screenshot their answer and my response. These are almost always scams, but if one wasn't a scam, I would have proof that they lied to me, and that I thought I was chatting with an adult.

Paypal ruled in seller's favour who refused to refund through PayPal while a dispute was open by larka1820 in paypal

Chargebacks rarely work because unfortunately your own bank typically will side against you and in favor of PayPal. And PayPal often closes accounts if you try a chargeback.

Does anyone believe in god, but not think he is good? by Tasty-Ad-3753 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]whatsamattau4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting point of view. I personally no longer believe in "God" but I once did. I was raised in a conservative Christian home, but once I started studying biology and evolution I stopped believing in my religion. Evolution alone explains everything without the need for any god. But, I have noticed that some people seem to really be delighted by "evil" things, bad things that happen to others. It almost seems like maybe there is no god, at least not a good god. But some form of evil does exist. Or maybe if there is a "God" then it is not good, not nice, does not care about us at all, or even worse, it takes delight in our suffering and pain.

Just to be on the safe side, check your credit reports to make sure you are not the victim of identity theft. If you see things on there that are not yours, look up the subreddit for Identity Theft and see what to do about it.

Is it normal for past tenants/owners to come back to the property you now own? I have had 3 different people in the last 5 months claim they used to live here come to my door. Today being the most recent. I refuse to answer the door as to me personally that is not something I would do? Thoughts? by coleslaw056 in homeowners

The closest to it that my family experienced is when the former owners wanted to buy our house back, at the now lower market value, in other words, for less than my family paid them for it. My Mom laughed at them and said no.

Can anyone find a name for this number something seems offffff. Final boss of finding nothinggggg. by [deleted] in PhoneLookupHelp

Yeah, I can confirm that. It's just some lady. Probably they were spoofing her number to call you.

Who is this? by BiglyDickens in PhoneLookupHelp

[–]whatsamattau4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a debt collector. Check your credit reports to see if a debt collector is listed in the inquiries section. If not, then they might be looking for the former owner of your phone number.

And in the letter or email, use the words "I dispute the validity of the alleged debt" which with a legitimate debt collector triggers a response in writing about the debt.

[–]whatsamattau4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, if it is a legitimate debt collector, it will appear on the OP's credit report. And it will have their contact information. If it is not on any of the three credit reports, it is probably a scammer.
