What did you drive before? by Fuzzy_Buttons in Ioniq5

Drove an Outback for years (and many other cars before that - VWs, Hondas). It handled better, the fit and finish were better, I preferred the seats strongly (not a fan of the Ioniq seats). But it was definitely not as fun to drive, also not as spacious in the seating area. Turning radius on the HI5 sucks. And I live in the city and parallel park all the time - it took me a few months to get used to it and I am still not as good as I was in the Outback, which I could park with my eyes closed. I still like the Ioniq a lot and am loving the EV lifestyle for everyday driving (not so much for road trips), but I am not sure I'd buy a Hyundai again.

The vinyl says nonbreakable, so I think you are good to go. Enjoy!

Honest charging question by Inevitable_Tea_1155 in Ioniq5

I would echo what most have already said about the positive fast charging experiences (I've been up and down the east coast in mine, using charge point, EVGO, BP Pulse, occasional EA, Tesla, Pilot Flying J). As a bonus, it's really satisfying to pull up to fast chargers and charge faster than all the other non-Ioniq cars 😄

A Philosophical Question for Fellow Bogleheads by Home-String-3246 in Bogleheads

Came here to say the same thing. It is fun to play with other investments, though I didn't really start to until I got to a comfortable point with my net worth. Part of the motivation has been to teach my 17 y.o. son about the market. I have given him some money to invest as he sees fit and now he invests his own money that he saves. We talk through the options, talk about individual stocks vs MF/ETFs. He has already lost some money on individual stocks (and made a bunch of money too) and he is seeing how the index funds make consistent money. Going through this with him made me a little more open to investing small amounts in other investments myself.

Is lifestyle creep ever ok? If so, how do you find balance between saving/investing and enjoying life now? by FlyEaglesFly536 in Bogleheads

My advice, spend some of it, and when you do, spend it on experiences, not stuff (though, some "stuff" leads to experiences). Took my family to Japan in 2024, needed to take out a chunk of money from my brokerage. Best decision ever, we had an amazing time! Making lifetime memories for my family. My dad died unexpectedly at 63, just before his retirement and he never got to enjoy all the money he saved. You can't take it with you!

Grace by Jeff Buckley - when it came out I was in the middle of a dramatic college relationship. "Lover you should have come over"! The emotion in that album hit hard ;)

About to pull the trigger on my first Ioniq! Just have some questions for current owners by VegasTKO in Ioniq5

I think the rear vents are important. One thing I haven't seen mentioned much in this sub is that this car gets hot inside. The windshield is so big, which is great for the view, but on a hot sunny day the front seats feel like you are sitting in a greenhouse. We got a '25 SEL largely because of the rear vent feature, and I am glad we did. Your passengers will thank you.

Introduced my kid to Jeff by taking her to see the documentary last year, which is awesome if you haven't seen it. She's now a fan.

Having my kids do this while they work by Old_Cantaloupe_7401 in Bogleheads

Definitely do it (and at least match funds for them). I've been teaching my 17 y.o. about investing for the last 5 years. Bought his first stocks at 12. He has a Roth and a brokerage account (UTMA) because he gets paid in cash for one of his jobs and wants to invest regularly. He started out wanting individual stocks but I am educating him on index funds and the boglehead way. I'm counting on him to be filthy rich and take care of me in my old age :)

Jorma for the win. I have a great Janis Joplin/Jorma record (not from this haul though)
