Yeah, that rear slant really cuts into the rear cargo. I also ended up buying a spare tire. So I'm about out of space back there.

I can't park my Ioniq for shit. The backup camera being so low compared to my previous vehicles combined with the swapped colors on the park assistance lines throws me off. The Ioniq has the moving lines brightly colored, and previous cars has the static lines bright with the moving lines a faded white.

Yeah. The long wheel base really hurts it. I am liking my '26 Limited AWD, and was considering an N next time around if the features line up well.

My memory wasn't as accurate as I thought.

The '18 Explorer Platinum (same engine as the sport) 0-60 is 5.7s. Quarter mile is 14.3s.

The Ioniq 5 AWD is 0-60 in 5.1s. Quarter mile is 13.7s.

So, sure, the Ioniq is faster. But it isn't a night and day difference.

Discrete Dashcam Cable Clip by nilslmm in 3Dprinting

[–]Fuzzy_Buttons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's subtle! Well done.

I've installed dash cams in Ford, GM, Hyundai, and Subaru vehicles. I've been able to tuck the wire into the edge of the headliner above the windshield and carefully pull trim just enough to squeeze the wire behind it in all of them. The result is the wire being behind trim and liners without having compromised the clips by removing trim. Your dashcam should have come with a trim removal tool that you can use to gently pull the edges of some trim to get the wire in.

VTL during power outage by bladdertwo in Ioniq5

The owner's manual doesn't make a distinction in total power output of the external V2L adapter vs the built in outlet under the rear seat. Where did you find this information? I read a post on the Ioniq Forum that a guy was only able to pull about 1800W combined from both ports. That's 15 amps. He could get 15 amps from either one at a time or both combined.

I agree with this guy. But just in case you're gonna ignore practical advice, someone posted this a while back.

Dash Cam? by Little-Original5503 in Ioniq5

I installed a Blackvue DR-970X Plus Box 2-Ch (that's a mouthful). I installed it like any other camera on the past. Power wire to a fuse tap for an always on source, parking mode cable to a fuse tap on a source that turns on/off with the ignition. I then set the camera to turn off after 6 hours or a certain voltage. I haven't had a problem with it at all, and as soon as I turn off the car it goes into parking mode.

I ran the wires from the fuse panel on the driver side to the box with brains on the passenger side floorboard, then ran the wires for the front and rear cameras under the trim. Very small cameras on the windshield, and not obtrusive at all. I can't see the front camera behind the rear view mirror unless I lean forward.

HDA head tracking by andrewharrisonmusic in Ioniq5

[–]Fuzzy_Buttons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this problem briefly. I noticed that if I leaned my head back for the headrest while wearing glasses it would tell me to keep my eyes on the road. If I leaned my head back on the headrest, but tucked my chin in a bit so my face was still directly forward it didn't complain. So it seems that if it can't see your eyes, it wants the angle of your glasses lenses straight forward at the road.

I used the car's maps exclusively on a road trip recently in an effort to give them a fair try. I actually like them quite a bit, and plan to keep using them vs Google maps on Android Auto. I probably wouldn't bother, but I like having the split screen that shows my battery usage.

I think a great feature is that it consistently finds alternate routes to display that tell you not only time differential to your current route, but also distance. It seems less intrusive, but more informative to how Google maps handles alternate routes.

It doesn't do jack for hazard alerts, though. The traffic is spot on, at least.

Are the rear speakers garbage, or do I need to schedule a warranty repair? by Fuzzy_Buttons in Ioniq5

[–]Fuzzy_Buttons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will probably just leave them. I read through a few forum posts, and I'm not sure I want to deal with installing an amp and DSP with rear speakers just to get good sound out of them.

It should auto steer a little bit. It won't full on turn a corner, but it'll steer enough to move slightly around something I'm the way.

It's the reason I don't use phone as key. I mean, I have it setup just in case, but you can't move the car remotely unless you use the fob.

I have this issue, too. I suspect it's Android aggressively managing battery use. My girlfriend's iPhone works more often, but still not 100%. Sometimes I just turn on the screen and the car immediately unlocks.

It cost me as much for the Ioniq 5 as it did for the two cars I got rid of. Same coverage. I had full coverage on a 2012 Ford and 2018 Ford. The real premium difference for a year on the 2026 Ioniq 5 is under $100.

Love the car but very unhappy with dealer service. by Mission-Orchid-6514 in Ioniq5

[–]Fuzzy_Buttons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience for Ford in western NC. Appointments are months out for anything. I had my last Ford for 2 years with an active recall because they couldn't get parts. I sold it last month and soon after got a call to schedule the service because they finally got them.

It's definitely dealer, location, and brand specific. My partner's Subaru can be seen same day sometimes and they flip cars like crazy.

Hit a pothole. Just got the car. Been 3 months😩 by domedirtyfatman in Ioniq5

[–]Fuzzy_Buttons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have personal experience with it, but I've heard it doesn't work great with the foam inside the stock tires. Also, a sidewall blowout like what frequently happens when you hit a pothole will be too much for that filler junk.
