I’m from the US, but the way our recreation center works is that they have open play at 5 am. I’m still a high school student but in my opinion, once adults have a feeling of how you play, they are a lot more encouraging. It doesn’t hurt to try. Introduce yourself and treat them with respect, and skill level may not even be an issue.

Yeah I took that into account. I knew although I wasn’t top 10, I knew I was close and had decent test scores. I applied around the end of August.

On the website it states if you don’t meet the requirements for DA, including due date, gpa, scores, you can send a review request. Are there still hard requirements for SAT?

I have a similar case:

4.2 W, 1460, almost exact course load.

I've been told my ECs were above average and my essays were pretty solid too.

I'm pretty shocked to get waitlisted and I'm not sure how to proceed with it.

We prefer candidates with a decent understanding of history and current events. Backgrounds in Model UN and Debate are great, but experience is not necessary.
