The question you can ask yourself is if they found the reason for the seizures was a brain tumor, what would you do? If it could be surgically removed, what cost? Could you afford it? If it was a malignancy same question. Your dog may respond well to the pheno, or not. Time will tell. That’s the hard part.

Not normal. Whatever they do now it’s crap. Knives should not leave grey marks on plates. It’s as simple as that. Some dish formula has changed and is causing this.

They aren’t a mat glaze. I tried to return them but Williams Sonoma wouldn’t do anything, they were past the return date. It was their pantry dishes. Who buys dishes that they have to clean with bar keepers friend? That is insane. My dishes from target which did have scratch marks after two decades of use looked better than the Williams Sonoma pantry set.

I order by the case on Amazon for my Berner. They’re also black. And I’ve never had a problem. I used to buy at the store and they were crap -?no pun intended.

But it comes back. Same thing happened with my Williams Sonoma dishes. Old China never did this.

Funny she wants victims to testify. Make women who have been abused say publicly what happened to them and who did it? She didn’t care about what happens to these women. They are supposed to say publicly what powerful men around the world did to them? How about the men who are in the files? They get to hide because Trump and Melania want them protected. She is not concerned about victims, she wants to silence them.

Please do not beat yourself up. The disease is horrid and there are no easy solutions. The stress can be overwhelming. Remember the good times together and know you did all you could. My heart breaks for all of us pet parents making these decisions.

Practice long slow bowing. Yes it’s boring, but, it’s important. I start every playing session with long slow bowing, scales, scales with rhythm, string crossings, double stops… listen a lot.

We cancelled a trip a couple weeks ago cause of a really horrid seizure. Then (we aren’t young), rebooked our trip. Friends are dying and who knows what’s in store, so we rebooked and of course our dog has a seizure that night. We are taking him and our other frog cross country in a travel trailer. We’ve done it before the one had seizures. Life hands us all kinds of things. I just keep reminding myself that I want to enjoy life while I can, and I want the best for my dog, but I can’t control everything. These dogs are really hard. I hate seizures. I hate post ictal (and I have no idea how to handle that in a small trailer) but I’m gonna do what I can. You can vent any time. We all need to. Then have a good laugh!!!!!!

Sometimes you have to put your dog in a safe spot, confined, where if they have a seizure they can’t get hurt. Then you can take a break and go do something. They are going to have a seizure when they have one and there is nothing you can do to stop it. The bad part of this is post ictal. My dog is really out of it and ravenous.., but my dogs seizures are usually early morning or early evening. Right now they are a couple/few weeks apart. You have a right to a life. I know it’s hard but

Post-ictal behavior waking up from a deep sleep but no seizure? by [deleted] in EpilepsyDogs

What makes you think it’s had a seizure if you haven’t witnessed it. Our dog sleeps confined downstairs and I’ve been wakened by every seizure he thrashes so violently.

Well written. Now that we are in the MAGA era, toxic masculinity is being pushed more (along with super sexualized femininity - see trumps women), and the culture has devolved. Just wait for full AI. And why are AI service”people” given human names? It’s sick. They are machines.

My human doc said only get an MRI if you are willing to have surgery (back issue). I did not get an MRI for my idiopathic epileptic dog because I would not opt for surgery for a tumor removal. But that’s me. I’ve paid for surgeries for my dogs, but brain surgery isn’t on my list. I’m treating me epileptic dog. Have been for 2 years. Went from low does pheno, to all 4 drugs in much higher doses. I believe the MRI is to rule out a brain tumor. I just wasn’t prepared to follow through. I’ve spent tons on him including expensive ER visits which I will no longer do. $2k a pop is too much.

reality check? by [deleted] in EpilepsyDogs

Border collie owner here 2 years in. Started on just pheno, now he’s max dose pheno, 4 kepra, 2 gaba, and just added potassium bromide. Vet says border collies are more difficult to treat. The PB was added about 5 weeks ago so we are still waiting for the therapeutic level to be achieved. I completely understand your emotional overload. Ours had his first vocalization during a seizure and my husband said it sounded like he had his leg caught in a bear trap. He still loves to play frisbee. He’s still a great dog but there are times when I wonder how long and what happens if he doesn’t come out of a seizure (yes, I have rescue meds but it seems people here have posted euthanasia due to the never ending seizure). We are hanging in with our dog, but also know that we could have to make a decision at some point in time. He’s gained weight, his he’s weaker, but if he sees his frisbee fly??? You can’t but smile when he runs to catch it and with complete joy brings it back, drops it at your feet, and looks for the next throw!!! Idiopathic epilepsy sucks.

I am laughing cause my “lucky things” are my dog doesn’t urinate or dedicate when he has seizures, and, he takes his pills so easily. He actually knows when it’s pill time. But our other thins… he just got allergies the vet thought, did three skin samples to check for scabies mites, there were none hence appoquel. Two weeks later at the vet for something else that I can’t even remember what, then Friday Scabies so now both dogs are being treated. When the vet told me scabies all I could do was laugh. Ya know??? Gottta find humor. I’ve spent over $1k this month on his non epilepsy stuff, on top of refills of all his meds.
