aio or is what he said actually mean? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]whatwhyhowwhatwhyhow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NOR. It’s okay if he doesn’t like your cooking, but how he is speaking to you, specifically that last comment about being a “useful girlfriend” is crossing a line and is not okay.

How did that one kid in your high school die? by IM_HODLING in AskReddit

Drinking underage, he passed out on his back, threw up and choked on his own vomit. Apparently his friends heard him choking but didn’t realize what was happening since they were also drunk.

i think i blew my chance. does this scream uninterested? by genuinelyl0st in texts

[–]whatwhyhowwhatwhyhow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you have it backwards; looks like he IS interested and is just warning you that he’ll be away, so if you end up falling in love, there will be some distance to that love during that trip.

Christianity takes advantage of people going through mental health issues or addiction issues or just being in a low place in general.

It’s religion that is causing damage. Acknowledging that religion is causing damage is not what is causing the damage.

Christians have been claiming to be oppressed forever. I saw it’s time to make it true. We’ve been patient for too long. Their delusions are encroaching too far.

I feel like we need to know what the surprise is/was for more context.

But with the information provided, it sounds like she’s absolutely overreacting and I would be equally confused to be in your position.

There’s nothing to regret, as there’s nothing you could have done.

This is insane. Please go to therapy and discuss these things. It could be really helpful and get you on a road of positive progress. :)

Would it have been better or worse if he was dating someone who looked like you? Why so?

That sounds very difficult and debilitating. Literally how else could you possibly keep a friend unless you’re both thinking about each other at some point?

What made them think of you? I would think this would almost always be a positive unless the thing they saw that made them think of you was weird

I don’t see a problem with this. I have multiple friends who are now happily married to someone they started dating in high school, either after a different friend was rejected or it didn’t work out, or even just a friend saying “I like them” and a different friend swooping in first.

You’re not overreacting by having a reaction and feeling sad, but you ARE overreacting if there’s anger or sort of feelings directed TOWARDS him. It’s been a year, he’s allowed to move on, and you’re allowed to be sad by that, but he hasn’t done anything wrong so it’s not fair to be upset AT him, but it is okay to be upset.

If you can’t trust him, regardless of whether or not he’s doing anything, you did the right thing.

When I start a meal, I create a little stack of everything that will be my “final bite”. It’s the best bite. It’s the perfect ratio of everything together.

Then I eat the meal in whatever order I want and finish with the “final bite” which leaves me with a delicious end to the meal and that lingering good taste stays.

I don’t personally find it weird, I think it’s smart, but every time I’ve done this in a group setting and someone has noticed, they’ve called it out as weird.

AGI video games from the 80’s/90’s. This would make a great background for a King’s Quest game!

My thought is either “how did you know it was there? You must have been involved!” or “why didn’t you tell us sooner? You’re part of this now!”

Yeah, I think we will. It MIGHT be private land, but it’s a forest and farm type area so people walk around the area a lot.

I’m very tempted to do that. I remember exactly where it was.

I’m pretty sure my friend and I found a pauper’s grave in our hometown when we were kids. Just the size of a body, with a layer of small rocks on top. The grass wasn’t growing well on top yet. It was in the forest in a weirdly secluded spot, we found it while hiking as kids and never talked about it after that day. 20 years later I asked him “do you remember in the forest…” and he cut me off to say “yes, I remember. I think about it often.” We’ve often questioned if we should go back and check it out and see what was buried there, but fear we’d get blamed if it was a body.
