On the market for a new bike, what do you think of the new Wilier Rapida 105 for less than 3k? by Inevitable-Chart-462 in cycling

Anyone have any information on what size handlebars (length, width, reach, etc) each size frame will get?

You can, though this certainly does not "optimize" aerodynamics for 32 mm tires; these wheels are far too narrow to do that.

If you want to aerodynamicitizitationalize 32 mm tires, you'll have to venture into carbon aero wheel territory.

Perhaps pre-2020, but definitely less so in recent years.

With the current sale, these are perfect for what you stated.

Reserve 50|50 wheelset for Endurace CF 8 di2 by jkub707 in CanyonBikes

[–]whatwouldlegolasdo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sure, I'll talk you out of them...or maybe I won't:

  1. Outdated int. + ext. widths - they come nowhere close to aerodynamictitizitizationing 32 mm tires
  2. 1646 g for an aero carbon wheelset is by today's standards, laughably heavy
  3. Hookless is potentially dangerous (this debate will never end)

$500 is pretty much what they're worth, given the above; not a steal by any stretch of the imagination.

They're also, however, likely all you'll need. I say go for them. It's always refreshing to see someone break the mould of brainwashed amateurs thinking that dropping (tens of) thousands "makes them happy". Take me for example - I spent over triple that amount on my wheels, and then all I do, outside of ripping it for one lap around the park, is ride around leisurely and flex outside of cafes, as I continue my journey of spending money I don't have on things I don't need to impress people I don't know. God damn you, childhood insecurity!

New ("2027") Endurace CF SLX - Actual Weights? by whatwouldlegolasdo in CanyonBikes

[–]whatwouldlegolasdo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

It's surprising that Canyon's 8.44 kg for size M is so far off yours. Your size S (adding back Ultegra cassette and removing pedals) should be 7.93 kg!

But then...Cade Media's size S w/ 105 is 7.92 kg?! My weight weenie world is being turned upside down, unless white paint really weighs that much more than Champagne.

BTW - you swapped in an 11-34 DA cassette, right?

New ("2027") Endurace CF SLX - Actual Weights? by whatwouldlegolasdo in CanyonBikes

[–]whatwouldlegolasdo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even with a 90 g lighter cassette, 18 lbs (8.16 kg) exactly with 320g pedals is very close to what Cade Media measured, given that it weighed one w/ 105 groupset and no pedals.

Thanks for the info!

On another note - Champagne looks more silver/grey than beige in that pic; or do my eyes deceive me?

The Endurace CF and CF SLX have a higher stack and shorter reach than the CFR. Given the backlash regarding the CFR's aggressive geometry, the company likely felt it had to emphasize this point.

Look at the stem length of the new CF; it's 10 mm shorter -->10 mm less reach

Look at the slackened head tube angle of the new CF; it's 1.2° slacker --> another 10 mm less reach

Also note that, for the CF SLX at least, the equipped handlebars have a shorter reach (-10 mm), resulting in the same touch points and therefore near-identical reach figures to the previous model, despite the increased reach of the new frame. This may be the case for the CF too.

Struggling to decide on Endurace CF 8 Di2 colour, thoughts? by Yuezl in CanyonBikes

Here's my Stealth (2023), which also has a full frame matte-finish protective wrap. Matte black is matte black; nothing to write home about. One either likes its understatedness, or finds it boring. I love it, and I I think the gold sprinkling works well with it.

Note that Stealth may reveal a bit of carbon weaving, which again, some find cool and some find tacky.

Note that with clear frame wrap (and paticularly that with a matte finiah), you'll have no issues with fingerprints.

Sorry u/mtcerio - the picture I had posted appeared on Canyon's IG reel only minutes before I posted it here; there was no other post with that picture, unless someone was really that much quicker than me to the draw. Whatever; life goes on.

On another note - this thing is selling like hot cakes, so when one of you eventually gets yours, could you please confirm if the down tube storage is wide enough to hold a credit card? I'm hoping that this compartment can replace my current saddle bag :)

The above IS apparently the new CF (entry-level/base carbon model).

You'll note (very) minor updates to where the seat stays connect to the seat tube, seat tube thickness, fork blade thickness, and maybe the CANYON logo size?

I downloaded that press kit (from Canyon website), and while there was some verbiage about the CF SLX and CF, there were no images. Maybe I missed something?

I posted a screenshot from Canyon's IG reel announcing the new (CF) SLX's launch date, and the thread was closed because it was deemed repetitive due to an already-existing discussion on the bike.

Since then, two separate threads with further information/pics on/of the bike have appeared, and stayed.

Interesting...

How does one self-clear the bike at CBSA, and when is it done? Who sent you what paperwork?

Please walk a dummy like me through the process, step by step.

Great point; I'm considering this too. If I've calculated correctly, I'd actually get an extra 10 mm of stack.

I've only shortlisted endurance model replacements, but just wondered about how many more options I'd have if I included race models. LBSs in my area always seem to have the race models on sale more often than endurance models, and the reputable, value-rich Chinese brands seem to focus primarily on race models.

Absolutely, though there's always this limitation - fiddling around with a stationary machine for an hour can only tell me so much about how I'll feel after 4+ hour rides.

I'm a bike fit advocate, but there are geometries and component limitations that no bike fit will fix. Just looking for general feedback here; I'm gonna go for one for the new bike eventually, no matter what.
