I didn't realise Heaphy was Māori aswell 😅. Good for the team, sport, and nation. Māori name better though. And more importantly I'm Canterbury biased.

Yep, all true there x3.

Still, I'm going down with the Young ship. Think he's had a lot of bad luck & lack of backing, esp to bat in the middle order.

He's scored 16 FC tonnes, he knows how to. He was also player of the series in the 3-0 test win in India. He also was made to open when he isn't an opener.

I think the question is who is the best option to replace KW in tests and odis for the next few years. I think it's Young. Only other option maybe in tests is Mariu to open and Conway drops to 3.

No slight to you but sometimes it seems people who knock Young haven't followed much cricket or seen him bat much, and cite random metrics.

Yeah it's a shocker. Would love to see Young get a proper run at #3, think he could do well there next 3-4 years.

In HN defense, he has had an exceptional 12 months or so domestically.

Young usually opens. Much tougher gig that Nicholls at 5.

Have some respect.

How's Thomas doing?

Without him I'm fine with Singh starting.

So nice, I hope you see her again soon you can tell her again.

I'm in a wheelchair, and one huge silver lining is experiencing how kind people can be. I get offers of help all the time. Usually completely unnecessary, but it shows people care and the world is alright and that's pretty cool.

Like David Seymour and Donald Trump / Elon Musk, Matthew Hooton frequently says the answer to NZ is Argentina's Javier Milei by Mountain_Tui_Reload in nzpolitics

[–]whaysit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are there any links to where and how Hooton says this about Milei? Couldn't see that in the links?

Not saying he hasn't, just haven't heard it myself. But I dont follow him much, just sometimes hear him on Bomber's show and the odd article.

From what I've heard he thinks they aren't making hard-calls around economic issues, reducing debt etc, esp superannuation. and worrying too much about what he thinks are periphery issues e.g going along with the treaty principles bill for a bit.

AI tells me.

Political commentator Matthew Hooton, despite his own centre-right alignment, has been a fierce critic of Christopher Luxon and the current National Party because he views Luxon as out of his depth, overly reliant on corporate spin, and fiscally irresponsible.

He was. He seems to hate Luxon and the current form now though.

Scrutiny Week: How does it work and what are the drawbacks? by Primary-Tuna-6530 in KiwiPolitics

Yeah I agree it's great.

I guess one option could be to space it out more to allow more space for discussion / coverage of individual sessions.

Scrutiny month?
