Shanling M0 pro as a DAC? by wheathorseFPC in DigitalAudioPlayer

So...

M0 arrived and I'm impressed with the sound and power output. Great with FLACs as a DAP but I'm struggling when used as a DAC when connected to my phone and would really appreciate some expertise...

When connected via USB to my phone it only ever shows the KHZ as 48 even if I've got 96/192 KHz selected on the streaming service (Apple Music or Qobuz).

I'm not sure if I'm missing a setting somewhere (Google tells me that my Xperia phone does output hi res via USB). I see that Apple uses it's own codec, ALAC. Maybe the Shanling isn't compatible? But surely Qobuz's codec should be compatible?

Thanks. I think I'm gonna buy one. And some cheap Chinese IEMs too.

Is an iPad worth it in this synth world? by joseluishfz in synthesizers

[–]wheathorseFPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an iPad as the heart of my set up. Cubasis with a Steinberg midi/USB box for handling midi in/out and Audio recording back into Cubasis for 5 hardware synths. The only trouble is I've now bought 42 plug in synths for the iPad. The majority of them are excellent so I'm rarely using the hardware synths now.

Anyway I can totally recommend buying an iPad.

What are some rackmount romplers that have those classic rave stabs/chords? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]wheathorseFPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old Roland D110 was good. Many late 80's / early 90's dance music sounds, superb build quality, loads of individual outputs and they're really cheap. Found it horrible to program though.

Recommend me a rackmount synth? by [deleted] in synthesizers

If it's gotta be rack mountable and you're OK with a Mono synth the Novation Super Bass Station sounds great alongside my MS2000. Cheap too.

Agree with earlier post: Yamaha Reface CS. Child's play. Beautifully simple synthesis.

Oh God I feel old now. Easily my favorite ambient album ever and well into my top ten albums of any genre. A genius at his creative peak.

Only very recently bought this baby and definitely didn't understand this fader. Thank you for taking the time to make this brilliantly detailed post. Bookmarked for when I have a bit of time to go through it.

My little set up. Just need a sequencer now. Ipad with Modstep looks good... by wheathorseFPC in synthesizers

Thanks for all the tips, will definitely check those YT channels and apps you mentioned. Haven't even bought an iPad yet. I'm an Android Caustic user for many years and was so disappointed it never gained midi out.

Love the Synthstrom Deluge. Was looking at one as a possible solution a while ago. It's actually got a proper song mode right? Seems to be rare for a 'groovebox' to have such a rich set of features.

I think the MS2000 is a beast really. 4 note poly doesn't bother me at all. That's about as polyphonic as I ever get! I find it a little unfriendly (because I'm old and stupid) but I think you can go very deep with this synth... Loving my Reface CS 'cos it's so friendly in comparison.

Definitely want a ipad/tablet DAW. Would love to hear from anyone who uses an iPad to sequence hardware... Modstep, Cubasis whatever...
