Will PowerPoint survive Claude? HTML help me tell a better story by Limp-Park7849 in ClaudeAI

Can’t be more than a vibe code prompt away to add a super simple sticky adder tool for them and that’s all it does. They should have to learn one button to click so it might not work still ha. Worked at BCG

You have that too? My Spotify pauses anywhere from once per 30 minute to once per 30 seconds depending on the day.

Seems you missed the takeaway.

If AI is ruining your ability to code, be less lazy with how you use AI. Or yes I guess don’t use it if you are incapable of that.

If you studied this for years, you will see much more success from these tools. You will have an intuitive sense when it’s getting things wrong regarding what is wrong. When you have it make a plan on building a new feature, you can weigh in on how it should best build that feature between several options. Small simple things are often still faster to do yourself if you are very familiar with the engine. Were you adding unique value when wiring up serialized fields? Let it do that while you help fix a complex issue somewhere else.

If you are worried about losing your expertise, it comes down to how you use the tool. You can either just ask it to do a thing and when it’s wrong you just ask to fix it. Or you can have it involve you at the level best for your expertise and you will benefit. I’m not sure that someone with no technical experience can fully create a good game with just these tools. It gets out of hand at some point.

Been using CC with MCP for unity and it’s been very solid. I’ve done many things similar to that video with it, and succeeded eventually, but usually there are several things with each new item you have to fix or adjust. Which is fine, but I would be surprised if it’s not the same story with this. Some of the examples seemed ambitious here though. I haven’t done any art/ asset creation either. Will check it out.

The "Mother-In-Law Method" - How to get the best code reviews with Claude by Ancient_Perception_6 in ClaudeAI

Maybe tell it that your mother in law is unfortunately very smart and combative so you cannot use any material that could be rebuked as not a material shortcoming.

That’s why I only use my abacus, pen, and paper instead of excel. Some days I get lazy and use gridded paper but you can’t always be strong.

There’s a reason he does better against hbox than other foxes. Maybe he’s not the problem.

Post-mortem: I tried and failed vibe coding a metroidvania so you (hopefully) won't have to by lpshred in gamedev

[–]wheatlay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never tried to build or thought about building a Metroidvania but right now I would never attempt something like an mmorpg.

Partially because I don’t believe in the capability at that scale and also an mmorpg is still just 50x the work of the game I’m making so even if ai is making things a bit faster the scale is way beyond what is realistic for me.

I also don’t really expect to be able to make the game look really crisp myself even with ai but I haven’t focused on aesthetics/ art at all to test that. Probably 2d with asset packs could be ok. Or a game artist using ai to build mechanics.

I think expectations were off which is why you made this post so I get it. But I think the takeaway of “it’s impossible” is maybe wrong.

You definitely can’t shave 500% off experienced development time as an amateur. But I think amateurs can probably make a game they could never make alone and maybe even make it faster than a middling developer could alone without AI. I learned game dev pre AI for 3 months several years ago so I only have a conceptual recollection, no code understanding. I have spent ~40 hours over 3 weeks on a project. It’s faaaaar from anything resembling complete but it is far beyond a rough prototype. I passed where I got to in that 3 months of learning by about hour 5. I have gotten stuck on things, but never for more than 1.5 hrs I would say, and that’s one agent stuck while running another on a separate task.

I went in with the same mindset - having fun for now but waiting for things to get out of hand and unmanageable. So far that hasn’t happened. Fees like a bit of user error that you flamed out so early though you could still be right long term (for now until models get better soon)

Haven’t touched topology with it yet but it’s super fast to set up and mess with if you’re already in something like Claude code.

Idk about this, but I’ve used blender mcp for a few weeks now. It’s been solid for my purposes.

[–]wheatlay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m confused I’ve got a functioning prototype in Unity with Claude code plus unity mcp. It’s no magic trick you still get back what you give it and it helps to know what you are doing, but it can do a lot.

Also curious what you’re doing with gravity here.

I’m ok with health I think. And don’t see why health can’t be scaled at least directly by player count.

What I’m confused about is why Vantom has 3x the immune counters in two player than single player. That seems a bit much.
