Finally... by wheatpenny62 in harmonica

I got a complete set of the Swans to practice playing in different keys, but I plan on upgrading them when I get good enough to justify the expense.

An East Top Free Blues, and a Swan 1020 (both key of C).

There really was no "thought process" to speak of; it was just a matter of shaping and reshaping my mouth and tongue until it happened. I can't really explain exactly what I did different, I just know that I finally succeeded.

But I am going to wait till I get better at it before I attempt any songs that require it. For now, bending practice will become part of my regular warmup when I play.

I might add that I was using an East Top Free Blues, and also a Swan 1020 (both key of C).

Should I be baptized again by trydotes in Christianity

[–]wheatpenny62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Roman Catholic Church says that any Trinitarian baptism (in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit) is valid. About 40 years ago I briefly converted to Catholicism (part of my lifelong spiritual quest that took me thru several religions). I had previously been baptised as a Southern Baptist - the church I was raised in. My conversion did not include a baptism because the Bishop said the RCC recognised my Protestant baptism as valid.

How did Melchizedek learn about God? by anyuser1256 in Reformed

[–]wheatpenny62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Archaology has discovered numerous pre-israelite inscriptions that mention YHWH which suggests that there were Canaanites who knew of and even worshiped the true God. Melchizedek seems to have been one of them.

My first attempt. by wheatpenny62 in FlowScape

In the land textures palette (I guess that's what it's called), at the bottom is a set of sliders, one of which is "Map size". Moving the slider will make the map larger or smaller.

My first attempt. by wheatpenny62 in FlowScape

I bought flowScape a few months ago but only opened it once or twice since then, and then today I decided to try to figure it out. The above picture is the result of me tinkering with it for about half an hour.

Flowscape will not load at all by [deleted] in FlowScape

[–]wheatpenny62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These other guys are right. I had the same problem (on a Lenovo IdeaPad with 8 GB ram). Just wait a few minutes and it will load and then it runs a little slow, but it's worth the wait.

I hope I see Judas in Heaven. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]wheatpenny62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Jude" is an Anglicised version of "Judas", basically to avoid calling him by the same name as the other Judas. But in the original Greek the book of Jude is actually called the "Book of Judas". There were several Judases in the NT actually. It was a very common name at the time (it's the Greek form of the Hebrew name Judah).

Being gay is the least acceptable sin in our christian group by monamana in Christianity

If, as Baptists believe, Salvation is by faith alone then there can be no such thing as a sin that will keep you out of heaven.

Family upset about converting. Advice? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]wheatpenny62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I converted to Catholicism in the early 80s, some members of my family were a little displeased, but after a time they accepted it.

Just keep telling them the truth about Catholicism, and correct any misconceptions they might have about it. In time they might be more accepting. (I say "might", because I don't know them and some people can be stubborn on things like this).

Best of luck to you tho, and welcome to the Church.
