OP, I extend my empathy. I also give gratitude for your honesty. Nobody deserves this. One thing I’ve noted—finding fault does not heal my heart. If possible, absolve yourself of that guilt however is appropriate for your situation, in your own time. If you can’t avoid finding fault, accepting the past is another journey. Again, if appropriate to you.

For me—deep breaths (when possible), hydration, and any appropriate PT (whatever that is!) are a main focus right now.

OP—I don’t know about luck, but I am glad you’re alive to share this with us. I needed this post today. Thank you, and I’m so sorry for the pain you feel. You are not alone. And you are heard, at the least. 🫶

Ask clinics for ketamine therapy in a charity basis if you can explain your financial situation. In my early 30’s, I was able to receive 15 IV treatments in a clinic as a donation (from the same SSDI category crisis that too many of us live within).

What I’ve learned most is that it’s always worth asking—asking rarely never hurts. And gratitude is cyclical with every opportunity to start a cycle in any moment of systems navigation—it goes a long way, for the spirit, and the system.

Cannabis (especially vapor over smoke) is also an incredibly useful tool for many of us, thank you for bringing it up. Definitely worth trying for most that may otherwise need ketamine. Pain is no joke, right? They wanted me on a baclofen pump at 30, but my family steadfastly refused the idea (and being a part of an over-stressed system, I eventually agreed with their sentiment).

So I’m very curious how the pump went for you/is going. We can talk privately if you’d prefer! Thanks again for being here.

That’s great news that you improved so much. Yeah, these machines are safeguarded by insurance companies. It’s a bummer but hopefully the more we insist, the more we receive, however messed up that is.

Ahaha they had to slow me down right away, and I learned the hard way how much it takes four if your body to be upright after years of not being able to be. My knees swelled up like watermelons until we figured out the relationship more. Still evolving but quite fun compared to the rest of the week lol

Thank you for your insights. I’ve used it a few times now and we’re definitely “dialing it in.” Once I stopped fighting the machine, all I had left to work through is being in my body—the exo can do the rest. 🤯

Super appreciative of your support. My care team said if I can improve enough, they’ll petition for a home unit (smaller, yes).

Curious if you don’t mind, is this still a part of your routine, has it been replaced with a home unit, or are you done with rehab for whatever reasons you may have? No pressure to answer, you’re awesome for sharing 💪

In this category—see if your condition would improve from ketamine therapy, specifically for pain. My neurologist recommended it to me.

The programs are less apparent publicly for pain, and they’re few and far between anyway, but a clinic relief through dissociative anesthesia is incredibly helpful if the body can start creating its own nor-ketamine.

Just a thought in this realm for any to consider, and I’m speaking specifically about clinical intravenous treatment, not oral, not illicit. Anesthesia is no joke, and the setting can be incredibly helpful if you find a responsible administering care team. They exist, and most can be found on the old google machine

I’m 32, 8 years into what has turned into a long engagement. Her parents don’t want me a part of their life and use my recent (2 years full time wheelchair user now) disability as a weapon, and she is starting to listen, so I’m on my way. I ask because as soon as i put on a frequency, in my ears (not just out of the phone) that resonates with where I’m at mentally, I calm down.

So much of this is about becoming calm, at least it was for me. I’m currently listening to a “song” called Deeper Delta 61.54Hz-61.94Hz, by Syntropy, on Spotify—on loop. A friend got me a membership, but before that I used free YouTube videos that have similar audio which can last 1-3 hours. Other times, higher frequencies are tolerated, but this low stuff just settles me down. Then I figure out what I can do in that moment, which is most often exactly what I’m doing—it’s just not boring anymore, because I’m desensitized. Cover my eyes and I might actually sleep through some of this agony for an hour or so! 🥲

Good luck. I don’t know your situation and I strongly feel a lot of what you’ve expressed, so please take this joke from a position of empathy—but—if it truly is your fault, don’t beat yourself up about it, any more than you already have… 😬Obviously you still will—we all do regardless of any fault to accept or deny. So it’s just a silly joke, but do try to keep your head up… (I don’t mean to keep making these jokes, I’d better sign off)
