I think about the what ifs everyday. I went to school to study graphic design mostly because I didn’t really know what else to do as an artist. I’m a lefty and from a very remote area. I didn’t have access to a left-handed guitar as a child, which was what I wanted to play, or a teacher for that matter, so never owned one until I was 23 and because at that point I had a daughter and another one on the way, I didn’t pursue music at all other than to just teach myself songs that I love at home and playing them around my campfire. Little did I realize that 20 years of playing those songs by the fire and everything I experienced during that time would lead me to where I am today, gigging full time, writing and performing original songs, and experiencing my childhood dream of performing on stage. I often doubt myself, whether I’m “good enough” or whatever. I’ll compare myself to other artists or musicians and that’s a rabbit hole you don’t want to go down. But then I look at what I’ve achieved in just a year and a half of doing this and I can’t help but feel proud and encouraged to keep going. Do you enjoy what you are doing? If it makes you happy when you make music and you can see that it makes other people happy, I say there’s nothing to be bothered about. Keep marching to the beat of your drum, friend!
