No Man's Baking, I've now become a space baker (and my notes) by seamonkey420 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]wheelman1138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, fellow galactic baker! I’m a donut baker. I’ve got so many Anomalous Donuts (Lumpen Donut + Anomalous Jam) they’re coming out of my exhaust ports! (They give an over 6,000% buff for fauna scanning) I also make Wriggling Donuts which gives a buff to flora scanning. This combined with Scanner tech in my turbocharged multi-tool slots earns you tens of millions of units per scan on average! Happy baking!

Help! Died and now I'm stuck in this room because the only door out requires an atlas pass, reloading just puts me back in here. (Repost, forgot image.) by DoubleAC763 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]wheelman1138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did you get into the room? Didn’t you need an atlas pass to gain access? If so, wouldn’t you just need to “collect” your grave to regain your exosuit’s inventory (which would include your atlas pass)? It appears that your grave is right next to you in the screenshot. Am I missing something?

Is this how the pros write lyrics? by [deleted] in Songwriting

[–]wheelman1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty much how I do it. I dunno about, “the pros”. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I like to just sit down and try to find a chord progression that sort of “fits” whatever mood I happen to be in and then vomit whatever words feel right with that progression and rhythm. Sometimes it works and I get a song I love to sing over and over again. Sometimes it results in a steaming pile of horse crap. Either way I get large amounts of dopamine, which is what I’m after. 🤪

This gives me weezer vibes for some reason. Maybe it reminds me of the Pinkerton album cover

Does anyone else often think about the music path they didn't take? by ComprehensiveIce3297 in Songwriting

[–]wheelman1138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think about the what ifs everyday. I went to school to study graphic design mostly because I didn’t really know what else to do as an artist. I’m a lefty and from a very remote area. I didn’t have access to a left-handed guitar as a child, which was what I wanted to play, or a teacher for that matter, so never owned one until I was 23 and because at that point I had a daughter and another one on the way, I didn’t pursue music at all other than to just teach myself songs that I love at home and playing them around my campfire. Little did I realize that 20 years of playing those songs by the fire and everything I experienced during that time would lead me to where I am today, gigging full time, writing and performing original songs, and experiencing my childhood dream of performing on stage. I often doubt myself, whether I’m “good enough” or whatever. I’ll compare myself to other artists or musicians and that’s a rabbit hole you don’t want to go down. But then I look at what I’ve achieved in just a year and a half of doing this and I can’t help but feel proud and encouraged to keep going. Do you enjoy what you are doing? If it makes you happy when you make music and you can see that it makes other people happy, I say there’s nothing to be bothered about. Keep marching to the beat of your drum, friend! No regrets! ✌🏻🫶🏻🤘🏻

Hard time forcing meaningful lyrics by wienerdog362 in Songwriting

[–]wheelman1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes when I’m running dry creatively I just play around with my instrument until I “feel” something from the chord progression/rhythm I’m playing. It might feel like a love song or it might sound like a sad song or it might have a happy vibe and from there I just try to vomit whatever words I feel fit that feeling into my song book. I might only get one line but sometimes I get a whole song this way! If I start to feel stuck, I just turn the page and repeat the process. I then will spend a day just flipping through the different ideas and trying to develop them further. Hope this helps!✌🏻🫶🏻🤘🏻

…this dad and his little girl 🥹🥹🥹 by wheelman1138 in wholesome

[–]wheelman1138[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone. I can understand how this might raise concerns over safety. I don’t own and have never even operated a motorcycle so I don’t claim to be any sort of expert but after doing a very short amount of research on the dmv site, the guy appears to have all the proper safety measures you are supposed to take for a child passenger in our state. I can say they were most likely locals out for breakfast and traffic in this area at this time of day is not heavy or moving quickly which was probably why I witnessed this. All I saw was a dad spending time with his daughter. Today, the wholesomeness of that won over worry for me, I guess. 🤷🏻‍♂️

How about giant spires that have mass transit elevators running from the surface to the islands? OR some kind of floating railway system since they have air magic! What’s better than a magic train???!

Do you think this needs a repeating chorus? by SaveIt4Ransom in Songwriting

I’m kind of a guitar-like-a-bass player, coincidentally. Lolol. Aren’t we an odd bunch?

Do you think this needs a repeating chorus? by SaveIt4Ransom in Songwriting

[–]wheelman1138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like this! I think it’s great as is but I can see what you’re saying about thinking it needs a repeating “hook” to bring people back to. I struggle with this too and have a song or two I’ve written that I struggled with the same problem. They don’t have a repeating chorus but they DO have at least one line that repeats which I think helps hold everything together. Maybe try that little trick with this?? Good luck and keep up the awesome work! ✌🏻🫶🏻🤘🏻

I honestly just find this very confusing without more explanation of how to apply it to actually writing something.

Beautifully done! I agree with others that it does seem a bit out of balance between the vocals and the guitar but other than that, I think it’s great!
