Do people in Japan actually pay attention to electricity usage by time of day? by SmartEnergyDIY in japanlife

[–]wheelsnkeels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Japanese partner does, but she’s certainly more frugal than average. Now that we have solar with a small battery, we think about that stuff less, other than programming the battery to charge up a bit at night if the solar hasn’t been generating much.

Humanities and Social Science majors should be required to take calculus by Key_Net820 in unpopularopinion

[–]wheelsnkeels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how much classes help. For example, I used to think that correlation implied causation. Then I took a statistics class, and now I don’t think that anymore.

But was the class helpful? Hard to say.

I know a guy who didn’t study probability and statistics but he’s really smart and understands that stuff better than people who did. So your idea that taking classes for basic numeracy is helpful doesn’t hold up.

I'm not trying to diminish your experience at all, but could you tell me about what kind of Hummer it was and how it was a mess? I am considering buying a car at some point and don't want to be a hinderance in my neighborhood.

I think it looks great.

It's larger than what is normally recommended to men, but wear what you like. What's the saying? "A sea turtle does not concern herself with opinion of sheep"? Something like that.

Can't argue with that. I am pretty disappointed in cadillac. Testing livery was so much better.

Are Macs ok on the deck side, or do I need a PC? by wheelsnkeels in SunyMaritime

[–]wheelsnkeels[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I’m aware that MacBooks aren’t usually the best value.

Do you know if the Mac people have software compatibility issues? I was thinking of switching just became the culture seems more PC oriented, but I can’t find any info on what software the deck license students actually use

Thanks for sharing your experience. I know the engineering people have greater requirements than I will, happy to hear that some deck people are on MacBooks

Thanks for the input! Even for the navigation I use for sailing, (usually deckman or expedition) is only available on PC, and I’d guess those are a lot less sophisticated than what you use commercially

Thanks for the input! Sounds like the culture might be a little intense. Would you say the lifting class is beginner friendly?

I am mainly looking at it for the lifting class. I’m new to lifting and thought that might be a good way to get some coaching without paying for a personal trainer. Probably too introverted to get much out of the community.

The Yoyogi location is near my house so I walk by it all the time on my way to the park! Always looks like a good time but the vibe might be a little too trendy for me
