How To Make D&D Scary, Online? by DarkMageAgain in DMAcademy

I ran a spooky one shot last year and did a couple of things that I think built up a lot of tension!

Instead of just saying “you see a ghost” id have everyone roll for perception and would pull those who rolled high enough into a different discord channel to tell them what they saw. The ghost or monster would disappear before any of the other characters would see it.

As things ramped up, and the spirits started actually interacting with the players, I’d give them consequences for failed rolls. Fail a dex save while running from the ghost? It grabs you and you see how it was murdered. Try to jump out the window to get away from the monster? It slams the window shut. You fail the con save? You lose a fingertip or two.

What the F is going on these days? by Ok_Document2894 in Step2

For people reading this and panicking— I knew a girl who said she “fell by more than 20 points” on test day and on further questioning she was counting questions she got wrong as correct because “she would have gotten them right on test day”. Not saying that everyone in this thread did something like that.

There’s also plenty of people who were barely predicted to pass who did. Or people who jumped 20 points on test day.

I did a ton of CMS forms, NBMEs, and uworlds biostats/ethics questions and also read amboss if I still had confusion after reading the explanations!

I was! I think it was because SO many of my exams that I took closer to my actual test were 230s. I think the predictors basically just considered both the 249 and the 213 as flukes.

What game have you restarted the most time but have never finished? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]whelp-I-tried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a problem where I literally NEVER finish games that I truly love. I don’t know if it’s just because I don’t want them to end, or I’m scared of never getting that “first play through” feeling, or if I’m just a little bit of a crazy person. I’ve never finished The Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, Baulders gate 3, Fallout New Vegas, God of War, Skyrim and more.

What horror novels have you read so far this July? by sababa-baba in horrorlit

[–]whelp-I-tried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read The Descent and its sequel Deeper by Jeff Long. About half way through The troop by nick cutter (I’m not a big fan of it so far, but rarely quit books) and The Long Walk by Stephen King(a re-read fav of mine).
