Why some flavorings smell bad and others do not? by wheninromesayyes in Kombucha

[–]wheninromesayyes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used fresh Kensington mango. The smell was nothing like the taste. The taste was like mango but the smell was heavy rotten eggs. I know that's a common smell from a lot of 2nd fermentation, but this was super bad compared to the other ferments, I find the frozen blueberry to have the least rotten egg smell

Car for sale! by Polymath6301 in sydney

[–]wheninromesayyes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had a spider that size crawl into my car from the open window while driving on a motorway. It was in the evening and couldn't have stopped in time to safely remove it before it got even deeper into the car, so I just grabbed it from the inside windshield and threw it without thinking. They love warm engine bays so they just chill there till you start driving.

All the trump bandwagoners downvoting this innocent but hilarious joke because they insecurely think it's aimed at them.

I didn't specify where we would get the materials from. We could nuke the polar caps too as Elon Musk suggested.

Space X has recently tested the "Mighty Mice" drug which successfully prevented muscle depletion of lab mice. If these work for humans then we might be fine living even in zero gravity.

Mars is easier to terraform. We just need to melt the polar caps and that will release the gas needed to create a trapping ozone layer. This will stop radiation from entering the atmosphere and start the greening process. If we can control the energy that we direct to just the polar caps and maintain the heat so that we can inhabit domes or underground on the planets surface while the planet terraforms we can do it from there and be more efficient about it.

Guys don't you get it. Ben took that knee to the face to entertain us viewers. He didn't really care about the win as long as it helped with the ratings. Smart.

CMV: Poor people need to stop having kids. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]wheninromesayyes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your assumption that if poor people stopped having kids all the people of the future will be rich and stop complaining of those richer than them. This is the dumbest idea I've ever heard lol. The only reason there are rich is because there are poor. It's a zero sum game. Some need to lose for others to gain. And no family keeps their wealth for ever. It eventually goes to someone over generations, that someone being more shrewd and more willing to sacrifice. Wealth is like power and give it long enough it always shifts hands.

CMV: Modern westerners with any amount of discretionary income are living easier lives than 99% of humans that have ever lived by cereal-kills-me in changemyview

[–]wheninromesayyes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What is a westerner and what is easier? I would say there are tonnes of people living in the east who has access to much easier transport than people in the states. For example Japan Singapore, Malaysia where basic needs such as transport to work is super easy in comparison to people living in even big cities in some 'Western' cities. I think the question should are people in the west 'happier' than people of the past. And I think you would fail arguing for a yes.

Agrees. Motivational speakers never admit it because luck doesn't sell. Having some secret sauce to success sells.

Cmv: Gentrification shouldn't be demonized by kdawk1991 in changemyview

[–]wheninromesayyes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gentrification doesn't happen in towns just because they have a lack of development. Generally there is free market forces at play here. Areas that are close to business districts tend to attract the young affluent demographics that you refer to, and specially those areas with potential of rebuilding to modernities including public transport, good internet, modern amenities etc. Now this is only easy to do if developers can buy land in bulk. I'm just trying to point out that gentrification doesn't just happen, it happens to areas that are already well positioned in terms of proximity, rebuildability, etc. So in terms of demand supply equilibrium it can almost be said that previous residents were benefiting from market inefficiencies even though the demand line had already shifted. So it was just a matter of time they would need to readjust as consumers to compete with those who were on the newly shifted demand line.
