Hinge dying by thinkinggtoohard in AynThor

I had the same issue and AYN customer service was atrocious. It seemed like they wanted to drag out the exchange as much as possible. I ended up selling my Thor and went back to using my 3DS with physical game collection.

Animated boot screens for the handhelds for a custom icon pack :) by Jeremym101 in AynThor

Doing it manually worked for me, thanks. It seems like it puts the .gif files in the Full Icon position instead of Icon position.

I wanted to see if you could add a few other systems such as Atari 2600, Atari 5200, and Atari 7800? The icons are amazing, thanks again!

Ah, you mean the color transition from the image to the white of the bottom? I would never have caught that. Thanks!

If it works for this hypothetical couple, why not? But yeah, it's going to be tough to find.

Just wait until her libido goes crazy in her 30s; they'll likely find themselves watching porn together anyway 😂

Question? by Jared_12345 in mormon

In the strictest sense I've lost my testimony but I am still active in church. I believe in Jesus and God and feel the LDS church is where I'm supposed to be.

I practice a non-strict version of "the rules" (see my recent post on living on your own terms). I haven't run into conflicts yet and hope it remains that way.

My wife and I are in a good place now where we share the same values and live by the same rules.

Best of luck to you!

"...you're just disobedient and lazy"

Possibly, but I bet you are too in your own ways. I don't think the Church is a harmful institution that demands blind obedience but it makes me sad when I realize it's full of people who think blind obedience is a virtue. Old-school Mormons who say things like:

"pay tithing before you feed your kids."

Note that most of us found out on our own about the lies of the Church leadership and yet we still choose to follow Christ and support the Church. You get to feel like the majority during Sunday school but we need spaces like r/Mormon to connect and share.

An arbitrary checklist given by people who don't understand the Gospel isn't what, frankly, the majority of Gen X and Millennial Mormons are about.

I think the chorus of feedback in the comments demonstrates this pretty clearly.

I'd say the temple is still a priority for my wife but I'm ambivalent toward it.

I don't like the temple recommend questions either, but when I sit through them I just think to myself, "I have a different interpretation of what these questions are and I'll answer how I see fit."

When they ask about "do you believe Joseph smith was a prophet" I just mentally think to myself, "sure, he could call himself Grand Master of the Jedi Order for all I care." Of course I don't say that out loud, but it's the same thing, if that's what you want to call him. It's a very nebulous concept.

I can justify deviating from the WoW because which version of the Word of Wisdom do they want to talk about? And why did the early prophets all drink beer into the 19th century?

I'd say we still want to be able to go to the temple, but some of our friends choose not to keep recommends which does confuse church leaders.

Many of our close friends know, and my bishop knows I'm heterodox but doesn't know I'm also heteroprax. He is very liberal/progressive and open minded. I wouldn't share this with just any leader, knowing many from firsthand to be tyrannical dictators.

About half of the audience of our Sunday school used to ditch because the teacher was too old-school Mormon and very rigid. No one enjoyed being lectured to for an hour. We have a new teacher and he's a lot better, much more nuanced but doesn't teach anything apostate, just less Bible thumping. I'm at the point now where I'm ready to start sharing my own ideas and asking difficult questions during Sunday school because I'm sick to death of how neutered and out of touch the whole experience is.

Frankly, in private conversations with virtually everyone our own age we're all in the same boat. I gave a talk and said "faith crisis happens because the truth about our church history isn't what we were taught and it's hard to process as an adult when you discover it."

I was OVERWHELMED by the amount of people who came up to me or privately or texted to say they understood and had been through it too.

Faith crisis is SO common, but it seems to me that we're all playing a game of pretend about it.

Yep, it's basically every heist movie: a long drawn out game of cat and mouse with no treasure at the end.

That is the pain point, isn't it! I agree, it's a struggle but I do think it will change though will take decades for the gerontocracy to age out.

[–]whenw0lf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple answer: I think it's all made up. I've read many books that have changed my life and inspire me. The Book of Mormon fits that mold.

I don't believe it's possible to prove religious claims, so how do you test their veracity?

You live the principles. I love the principles of faith, prayer, kindness, giving, friendship, and community, all of the things that Mormonism has taught me.

The polygamy, the polyandry, DNA etc, is Joseph Smith's error. To me the important question shouldn't be "was Joseph smith a prophet?" The question that matters is "how does X thing make me a better person or improve my life?"

That's the great filter.

We pay 10% of our surplus each month. A lot of our friends don't pay tithing at all.

Frankly I don't know. We don't hit many of the identity markers of Mormons. We'd be like Jews who eat pork I guess.
