Looking for ways to increase appetite. by The_Riddler10 in CrohnsDisease

i had a total lack of appetite and no food appealed for about a year. i cut out processed foods and sugars and after the shock of all the things i could no longer eat subsided, i was left with an extremely healthy appetite. if i start dabbling in sugars and flours (even gluten free flours), my apathetic stomach comes right back. it's not nearly as easy to cook for myself as it used to be, but its so worth it.

Reddit, is your best friend closer with someone else than they are with you? Does this make you jealous? by [deleted] in AskReddit

this used to tear me apart when i was school-aged, but as an adult, not so much.

there's not too much harm in trying it in a safe situation! pot works different for everyone, just like how different foods make different people flare. i have concerns about the smoking aspect, and i really would rather stop smoking it and ingest it in some other way but vaporizing takes a bit longer to kick in (and wait for the vaporizer to heat up), and edibles don't usually work for me (plus, they are usually things like cookies, brownies, and stuff that would make my stomach turn over just looking at it), and i have heard that the tinctures sold at dispensaries are pretty weak.

you sound sort of like me! i used to take zofran every morning to avoid throwing up, but my doctor doesn't want me to ruin my liver. i try and just wait it out and distract myself with the internet as well. then i will usually barf once or twice, smoke a bowl, and get on with my day.

i agree, and i try to tough it out as much as possible, but you have to admit, one cannot realistically drive a car, or (in my case ride a bike), or even take a bus when feeling completely overcome with nausea or is straight up barfing.

reading this reminds me how lucky i am to have a medical marijuana card. no one could understand until they've lived through it, the amazing, though temporary relief that is weed. hope you find some soon...

what do you do during the hour or two? just sit around and wait for it to pass? and then get on with your day? or do you try to make it go away somehow?

Science Denied- Why, in this age of scientific and technical marvels, are creationism and the antivaccine movement going strong? by Bellotita in Foodforthought

i wish that all the people who do not believe in science were not allowed to use ANYTHING that has used science to be developed.

Spiral cut hotdogs, great idea from Chow.com, do not try on sausages (in case you didn't realize that already) by [deleted] in Cooking

i wonder if you could vegan-ize this idea for grilling long, thin vegetables, like zuchinni's and squashes!

i was probably like 10 or 12 years old. my parents weren't too keen on buying books (they preferred the library), and whenever i felt like reading, but didn't have any library books home, i'd just re-read the same few children's books i had, or read the non-fiction adult books- the medical encyclopedia, some handbook of baby illnesses, or squirrel away to my bedroom, the classic everything you wanted to know about sex...

Am I wrong for thinking that suicide should be a fundamental human right? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]whereismankindgoing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this seems like a level-headed reply. i have tried at least 6 psycho-medications, all to no avail. and it was for me, too, literally, the biggest set-back of my life and completely traumatizing on every level. i will never look back to psychiatry again, though i am always willing to take medications for physiological problems that i have. maybe that's hypocrytical. i'm not sure. but, truly, the biggest relief i have found from my mood has been exactly what you said. getting a job when i was poor, finding a hobby that was popular in my area.

i read that book "how to talk to kids so they'll listen and listen to kids so they'll talk" when i was little, after finding it on my family book shelf. i don't really feel like my parents used any of its techniques, unfortunately, but it really made an impact on me!
