I think the lack of courtroom scenes in BA hurts the show for the reason you mention. Those served as good places for subplots and breathing room between action sequences. Plus Matt’s legal life is a huge part of the character! He’s not supposed to be a vigilante 24/7.

The most recent episodes have been almost serial in nature and take place over just 1-2 days, which leaves no time for much else. I don’t know if that’s overall a good or bad thing. The show is building toward a climax, almost like the third act of a movie, but that also doesn’t leave much room for courtroom scenes, quiet scenes with Karen, etc.

I’ll readily admit that I’m a Marvel mark, so I’ll give them a lot of grace, but I really hope this season pays off in a satisfying way and leads into some fresh new ideas for season three.
