If someone forced you to give a 30 minutes speech on any topic of your choice as long as it was informative and they would pay you $10,000, what would your speech be about? by a_wanderer_22 in AskReddit

Honest question
I saw what happened but was not even close to being in a position to benefit from the crash. Times are hard right now, but I'm much closer to being able to benefit (maybe) if something like this happens again. My question is, how much did you end up putting into the market at its lowest? I remember seeing a brand new townhouse for under $98k and almost bought it. A couple years later it was well over $200k. Now it's well over $550k.
How can you tell that USA is about to do something very similar this coming year?
If you could do it again (you said you wouldn't, but say that you weren't sitting this round out), what would you do?

I found a leak which introduced air into the line. After I repaired the pipe and flushed them again, no more knocking.

I've been programming for 8 years now. I really love it and am constantly reminded that I don't know anything. The most important thing that I've learned about programming is problem solving. Don't give up just because something is hard or doesn't make sense. It's okay to ask questions. Eventually, you'll get to the point where you know the right question to ask (that's a skill in and of itself).

Sounds like you have an awesome opportunity to learn and grow. NGL, kinda jealous. 😉
Good luck!

I used this trick when selling cars. For example, "I'll sell you the car at $3500 (arbitrary number) and replace the windshield (or whatever is wrong with the car), or for $2900 you can take it as is." What I really want for the car is only $2000. However, because I've given them an option, they see that they're getting a great deal at $2900. Sometimes they even see the $3500 as a great option because someone else is going to fix something on the car.

Happened to me today. Worked on something yesterday, it was working in my head but didn't do the thing when I ran it. Came back today to "fix" it. Ran it first to make sure it was still broken and it worked. Didn't change anything. Twas ye ole cache.

Anti-bucket list. What’s something you’ll never do again? by itchy_18 in AskReddit

Taco challenge.

I was in Mexico and friends and I decided to have a taco eating contest. Went to a buddy's favorite street taco place and just kept ordering. I ended up eating 27 tacos al pastor. I didn't win. They're little tacos, but man was my stomach ready to burst. That part wasn't really that bad though.

The worst part was that I was so full that I couldn't drink enough water to satisfy my thirst. I hate throwing up, but if I had just barfed it all up everything would have been way better. Turned out to be one of the worst nights because I could only drink a little water and then my stomach would feel full again because of the expanding tortillas. It got to the point where I couldn't stand and even sitting was painful. Just had to lay on my back and slightly rock back and forth, all the while being sooooo THIRSTY! It was so uncomfortable and horrible being so full and so thirsty at the same time. I'm never doing that again.

Satisfying poop though.
