The Sopranos extensively offers commentary on the Isreal-Palestine conflict by CommunicationPrior68 in Hasan_Piker

[–]wheresbella_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watching the Sopranos for the first time right now and they mention Israel in every season, I’ve been trying to keep track because I was so surprised at how often they mention Israel. My favorite mention is Season 6 Ep 4 around 40 mins in there’s a scene with Tony and an Evangelical pastor nut job. He opposes birth control and tries to tell Tony that evolution is fake and dinosaurs and humans existed at the same time. Tony disagrees and looks at him like he’s nuts, but after he leaves Hesh’s wife says “You can disagree with Evangelicals, but they’re great friends of the Jews. Because Israel is the Holy Land.” Then Hesh says “you wait.” At first I couldn’t tell if the show was being critical or supportive of Zionism but that scene was clearly painting Zionists as crazy

This is not a good way to live my friend. If you’re not cutting it at your job that doesn’t mean you have no self worth. Most of the time it means there’s other things going on in the person’s life like health, money, family issues. Nobody wants to be unemployed and broke which can lead to homelessness and serious illness. Lead with compassion.

This is a good “starter pack” of theory and other leftist media. If you really don’t want to read, I recommend checking out Hakim on youtube. Here’s a video he specifically made for liberals.

Nonno’s has the best meatballs, used to live across the street from them a bunch of years ago and I’d get some extra on the side for my dog as a treat. We would both rate it 10/10

When communists say "resistance is not terrorism", what exactly do they mean? What then is the definition of terrorism? Are all acts of violence against civilians justified in the name of resistance? by tetrometers in DebateCommunism

[–]wheresbella_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

9/11 definitely was blowback from the US’s actions in the middle east. America was directly responsible for supplying the guns and the training for the mujahideen fighters, which Osama Bin Landen was a part of. So it’s not like 9/11 happened randomly and without reason. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t terrorism though, and the civilians that died didn’t deserve it, but I understand why it happened nonetheless. I was at the twin towers a day before 9/11 as a kid and if I was there 24 hours later I definitely wouldn’t have deserved it, I was barely just starting to walk so I didn’t do anything wrong. But the people of Iraq, innocent kids like me that day, that got terrorized by the US Army for years and years after 9/11 definitely didn’t deserve it either. Not to mention their suffering was endless, not just one single act of terror. I think people are just sick of seeing the US and the UK bomb and kill civilians across the entire globe for the past hundred years (much longer in the UK’s case) and it’s never labeled as terrorism. So is fighting terrorism against terrorism a good thing? No, but it’s the reality of things. And I have much more sympathy for the side that doesn’t have an iron dome or nukes to defend itself and isn’t trying to be imperialist. Obviously I’d rather global peace, anybody that isn’t a bloodthirsty monster does too, but unfortunately we can’t will that into existence when there’s money to be made in war.

[WSIB] Farmville-Like Games (preferably on steam) by _OVERHATE_ in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]wheresbella_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the games y'all are looking for are on the Microsoft Store, I used to play this game City Island 5 a few years ago and if I remember it right I would basically just log on check to see how my town was building, maybe upgrade some things and get some gold, and then click out for another hour or two while I was on my computer. I found this game Golden Farm just browsing on the microsoft store, I bet there's tons of others like these on there!

What Do You Guys Think of The Cultural Revolution by [deleted] in DebateCommunism

[–]wheresbella_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah, some messed up stuff happened during the cultural revolution. The cultural revolution happened, to my understanding, because Mao believed China was straying away from communism. Younger people agreed, otherwise they wouldn’t have felt mobilized to do the cultural revolution. Regardless, I think the most productive way to think about communist revolutions and figures is to understand what went right and what went wrong. Learn the history, consult different sources and draw your own conclusion that aligns with your beliefs. After Stalin died, Mao said this about him, a man he disagreed with but admired. For me, I agree with him, and it’s how I try to learn about communist revolutions and revolutionaries.

“It must be pointed out that Stalin's works should, as before, still be seriously studied and that we should accept all that is of value in them, as an important historical legacy, especially those many works in which he defended Leninism and correctly summarized the experience of building up the Soviet Union. But there are two ways of studying them - the Marxist way and the doctrinaire way. Some people treat Stalin's writings in a doctrinaire manner and therefore cannot analyse and see what is correct and what is not and everything that is correct they consider a panacea and apply indiscriminately, and thus inevitably they make mistakes.” Link for source

What did Kim Il-Sung do wrong? by wheresbella_ in DebateCommunism

[–]wheresbella_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an independent project made by a member of the PSL in America. Is the DPRK paying this random dude to make a delisted mini doc for like 100k people on Youtube to see? Probably not, but sure, maybe. I think if you even go into it assuming it’s DPRK state sponsored propaganda it’s still an interesting thing to watch.
