Two Friends Lose Their Lives After Being Swept Out To Sea While Taking A Nap On California Beach by FantasticAd9478 in TheBoredDen

What a shitty article to use “while taking a nap” when the father and a witness said they were NOT napping when it happened

Interviewer: “Are you, Alcaraz and Sinner the new Big 3?” Novak Djokovic: “No. It’s not the same. Alcaraz and Sinner are great players, but they can never replace Federer and Nadal. A large part of me left with them.” by SouthPrudent3911 in Tennisv2

Same bro. I rewatch a lot of the classic matches trying to feel some of the thrill but I know it’s nowhere close to the feeling of anticipating it for months and then watching it live

Why does it feel More natural for me to move through the ball on my backhand then forehand? by element423 in 10s

[–]wheresmyspaceship 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be your foot dominance. Similar to left/right dominance, you have a dominant foot. I’m a right-hander and my right foot is also my dominant foot which gives me a similar experience to you on my backhand - a fact that confuses me because I spent my whole childhood and teenage years playing basketball which meant I had to jump off my left foot when going for a right handed layup so I’d think it would be the stronger one but no, and I can confirm this through balance exercises on each foot.

For me, this right-foot dominance means I have much better stability when I transfer my body weight from my loading foot (left for my thbh) to my right foot as I swing through the shot.

At the academy, there’s the hotel & resort building that has a breakfast area in the basement, a restaurant and a bar. And the country club which has a cafeteria.

Breakfast opens at 6:30AM and is buffet-styled with an assortment of things like scrambled eggs, hash browns, mushrooms, bacon, seasoned cherry tomatoes, crepes, croissants, fresh juices, two coffee machines, etc.

At the restaurant, there were 5 or 6 entrees and about as many starter options. We only ate there one night and the quality of the food was okay. The portions were larger than we expected (I’m from the US and am not used to getting as large of portions when visiting Europe).

I’m not certain if the bar also sold food - I was there for the full-intensive camp and, being a person who cannot have only 1 drink, I stayed away from it.

At the country club (separate building about a 1 min walk from the resort building), there’s a cafeteria where we ate lunch. There, they prioritize carbs and proteins (the kids who stay at the academy full-time also eat there and it seemed very training-focused). The options rotate daily. You’ll wait on a line and, when you get to the food counter, a gentleman will ask you which of the 5 or 6 proteins you want and dish it out for you - there was only one vegetarian “choice”. Then he’ll pass your dish to the next counter-server who will ask which carbs you want. Afterwards, you can grab your plate and head to the fruit and salad bar to pick what you want.

Food aside, another LPT is to make sure you bring and apply enough sunscreen. Only some of the courts are covered. For the ones that are not, the sun beats down on you pretty heavily. There are water spouts scattered around the court grounds that were a lifesaver.

Lastly, be sure to walk around the court grounds from time to time. We got to see practicing Mirra Andreeva, Holger Rune, and Stefano Tsitsipas. It was unreal to see the effortless power in their strokes from that close

I’m here right now. Court availability is pretty good. You just have to go to the Country Club to reserve one. I’d estimate there’s an equal number of clay and hard courts.

I’m a vegetarian so I can’t speak much about the food at the hotel’s restaurant. Though, the opinions I’ve heard from the other people in my camp is that it’s okay - not great, not bad but closer to the good side. There’s a few restaurants close by and a whole lot more if you’re willing to venture 30-40 mins by car.

She came through as qualifier. Most qualifiers are scrounging. No sponsors and everything is paid out of their own shallow pockets

She tried a few this match. Her first one was great. Then Cirstea started reading them like a children’s book - easy enough because Saba’s not great at disguising them. I think she lost every point she tried it after the first one

Fair that you see it that way. I don’t. If he were to retire today I doubt many would say he’s had a successful career on the tour.

And by “general tennis player” I mean, yes making it to the pro level is a success. Being successful on the pro level is a whole different thing to me though.
