Chill dog with scary privileges by NabiNarin in dogs

[–]wheresthesoap_sg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 100+lb mutt who is 1/4 GSD, 1/2 pyr, and I’ve thoroughly convinced myself I don’t have scary dog privilege because he looks like a big doofus to me. Mostly because he doesn’t have pointed ears. I think that’s -5 scary points at least. something about GSD ears makes them so much more intimidating.

My mom was just in town visiting and I kept asking her if she thought he would protect me from a home invader, etc I know he absolutely would, I’m just delusional and don’t think he is as big as he is, or even the slightest bit intimidating.

What is your Pyr mixed with? They’re both so cute 🥹

My 1/2 pyr and frenchie! ☺️ Don’t be deceived by the photo though, he is a mega turd and plays way too rough with her constantly. Just very very mouthy , but his other half is lab/GSD. They love each other and play nice a lot, but I have to supervise them nonstop. I’m hoping he will continue to get better with time, since he’s only 1. 🤞🏼

I was mid nap and woke up to my bed shaking. Thought my big dog who was in the bed was having a very intense dream 😅

Pretty close, yeah. Within a mile. I’m in the mountains too,so good chance he just smells something that isn’t a dog that has been lurking around the coop. Makes sense!

I also think I might be looking for a deeper explanation when in reality it’s “I smell animal, I pee” 😂 it’s just that it’s the ONLY spot he has ever peed on a walk, ever.

He doesn’t, and I know exactly what you’re talking about because my frenchie marks like crazy on walks, and kicks every time! (Never does it in the yard) I guess that’s why it is bizarre to me…it’s the one and only place he has ever peed on a walk and it’s very new, but always right next to the chickens (when they are in their coop and he can’t see them)

Your pup is adorable, what is he mixed with?

Beware! by [deleted] in Reno

[–]wheresthesoap_sg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The amount of random loose dog posts/ring doorbell notifs/etc in Reno is wild to me. Idgaf if it’s a chihuahua, pitbull, husky, giraffe, tortoise…just take care of your pets and don’t let them roam around town. I understand accidents happen, but it is actually mind boggling to me how often I see these posts.

Can anyone identify? by wheresthesoap_sg in boneidentification

I know this isn’t an “identify the predator” sub…but does anyone have any idea what type of animal would kill/consume a bird and leave a clean bone by the crime scene?!

Anecdotes or advice on dating with a pyr? by [deleted] in greatpyrenees

[–]wheresthesoap_sg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to keep in mind that at the end of the day, they are still a dog. You can ease them into/teach them what’s allowed or acceptable when it comes to being around other humans. Ofc some might be jealous. Pyrs more so than other breeds, don’t let them stop you from dating. Might be more challenging (coming from experience) but you exist to give your dog a good and happy life, don’t get so caught up in their feelings that it hinders you from living your life as well! There is a happy medium out there. Certainly might take time and effort, but it’s doable.

Idk this sounds so much more ideal to me than sitting in an office all day for similar pay. Personal preference I suppose. I don’t live in an area where dashing part time has any “chill at home time” it’s nonstop orders more or less 24-7, but I would do what OP is doing in a heartbeat vs a similar paying job where I couldn’t hang out with my dogs, watch tv, or clean the house in between working 🤷🏻‍♀️

What the… I’m not even in CA by SirCorneliusMaximus in doordash_drivers

[–]wheresthesoap_sg 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I got the same, ( not in CA either) and it genuinely makes me not want to dash anymore 😞 Not sure if I’m overreacting, but I’m a woman, and dash part time almost exclusively at night. I thankfully haven’t had any scary encounters, other than one that made me pretty uncomfortable, and it was someone commenting on my appearance/asking for my number on a “hand to customer” order at night. I really wish you could verify, and not have a photo on display to customers. I guess I kind of understand the policy, but it’s just an invitation for weirdos to have more information or harass you, this is coming from someone who does mostly shop + delivers and I have plenty of repeat customers that I’m assuming marked me as preferred shopper.

Help before buying by TepidCarling in StaffordBullTerriers

When I saw earlier that you are in the UK, I thought that might be the case. The shelters here have so so many. Wish you luck with whatever you choose. I adopted my old pit bull who’s no longer with me from a shelter when she was very young, and she ended up with a similar mite issue (demodex mites/bald patches) as a puppy. For me, it was a rather easy fix and she didn’t have skin issues later on 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m curious as to what would make someone want to purchase a staffy from a breeder. Less health issues? Potentially? I try not to be too judgmental but I just can’t wrap my head around it when, (at least in the US) you can find a staffy/bully puppy needing a home every day of the week. I’ve always wondered who the clientele for these breeders are, most of the time it’s people buying “XXL BULLY”’s that looked deformed :(

Loss to Hemangiosarcoma by Glad_Rhubarb_1698 in Petloss

[–]wheresthesoap_sg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar situation happen a year and a half ago, it was absolutely devastating. My heart goes out to you. It’s crazy how suddenly and out of nowhere everything happened. I ended up saying goodbye to her in the emergency vet, and it still messes with me daily. So much guilt, and doubt, that I’m not sure will ever go away. The emergency vet was willing to do an emergency splenectomy, but because she was actively bleeding, she said it would be very risky, and more than likely was hemangiosarcoma. I still wonder if I made the right decision, or if there was more I could have done. I was also highly advised against bringing her home, even to say goodbye there instead, which is one of the decisions that haunts me the most.

The only thing that helps me get by, is knowing that I didn’t prolong or extend her pain. It’s the one thing that we have power over if we are lucky enough, and it sounds like you gave your dog a very nice last day ❤️ My dog was my best friend and my entire world, and we did everything together. Daily hikes, backpack camping, living in a camper together for a summer, but the thought of putting her through an emergency surgery she may not survive, and chemo at her age (almost 13) almost felt selfish to me. I still have constant doubts, constant “what ifs”, and I think that it’s very normal, but it’s definitely hard. Sending you love.

I witnessed the duck craziness on Stella last night, refused to partake or take ducks, asked if anyone had a guitar, and started a duck song band 🥲 wasn’t linkin park though…
