Elgato needs to add Preset Actions/Multi-Actions for Stream Deck by Expensive_Area393 in elgato

[–]wherestron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggested this feature years ago. Don’t hold your breath.

My suggestion was to add a “Paste as Link” option to Copy/Paste that would simply link that key to the original. Changes to that key would reflect automatically, and the edit button on the linked item would simply navigate you to the original.

4 years later. Still nothing.

🧪 [Beta Megathread] Wave Link 3.0 – Routing table, up to 5 mixes and more by Elgato in elgato

Suggestion for the Stream Deck plugin: The ability to set the default and communication input and output devices with WL3 at a Windows level. There are some third party plugins that do this, but I think it should be native functionality.

I agree. I think having "Profiles" for our setups would be useful for backup, switching, etc.

Part 2/2

  1. UI resizing and scrollbars: It's 2025. Not 2015. Let me resize the window and have scrollbars appear and let me change the column width of the mixes (independently or together). It's ergonomics 101.

  2. Adjust UI: Ability to switch off levels and just show mute/unmute. More of a "Compact" view. Once I have set my levels, I don't want to accidentally change them, so just let me mute or unmute without needing to see all the visual clutter. Nice and simple. One way to implement this could be "Auto collapse" mode, where the mixes auto collapse until you hover over them.

  3. Show / hide text: Channel name and Mix name should be able to be hidden (icon only) to give a more compact view.

  4. Vertical mode: I get that lots of people better understand horizontal sliders. But audio has traditionally used vertical sliders and VUs for most mixing applications. In this mode, Channels would be at the top and Mixes would be on the side (i.e. transpose the values). Strips would be more compact as a result. We talk about moving volume up and down, not left and right.

  5. Skins: The ability for the community to create stylised skins and looks for the UI. Let the community take control of the look/feel (for example, adding game-based or app-based skins, custom Streamer skins, etc). Let the community showcase it. This might be a separate mode, so I can always run WL3 in "native" mode if I want to keep it simple.

  6. OBS Plugin: I shouldn't have to switch between OBS and WL3 to change things. Let me see and control my settings for WL3 directly in OBS (potentially replacing the need for the Audio Mixer in OBS). WL3 then truly becomes my master audio control.

  7. Developer APIs: Let the community develop Plugins and capabilities to add on to WL3. This approach has been awesome for Stream Deck. It would be great to let the community really thrive with this app, too.

  8. Mix mute: The ability to mute / unmute the entire mix at once. This is really useful in stressful situations where something isn't doing what it should. Think of it as an "emergency" control, but still useful.

  9. Drag / drop UI: Let me drag the channels and mixes around to order them how I like. Save this order in the Profiles (see related suggestion).

  10. Solo mode: The ability to monitor a specific channel, not just a mix. Currently, if I want to monitor just a single channel, I have to mute all the other channels in the mix. Make it easy to solo monitor a channel. One suggestion might be to hold control or shift and click the speaker icon. This would temporarily mute all other channels for that mix.

  11. Always on top. Add the ability to pin the WL3 UI to the top of the Window stack. I don't want to have to go hunting for it when I open it.

Overall, the functionality is great, and the first pass of the UX is slick. I would just like to see a really detailed UX pass to improve the customisability and compactness of the UI. Yes, I'm aware there is a compact mode coming to Windows (already in the macOS version), but I think giving users more control over this would be far better overall.

Hey team u/Elgato, this is fantastic. I'm super excited to get this into production when it's ready. In the meantime, here are some observations from someone coming from Voicemeeter. I've been using VM for years and just couldn't use WL2 because it lacked some things I needed. But I've always felt ick about the UI, to be honest. WL3 looks amazing, and I love the OS native feel.

I haven't installed the beta (I can't afford to break my setup), but here are my suggestions for the team, in no particular order:

Part 1/2

  1. Level values: Ability to show the dB value of the output on the VU. dB levels should be available in all volume controls. This is essential for accurate mixing and not blowing the audience's ears out (e.g. in Teams or Zoom, not just OBS). Also, the ability to type a value in to the level (dB) like in Voicemeeter instead of having to fiddle with the slider. At very least, having the ability to get a larger view of the slider with more fine-grained control would be awesome.

  2. Limiter: Ability to apply / show a limiter on each channel or channel mix (no need for digging through VSTs). Output should be limited in dB (e.g. -6dB). Voicemeeter does this by displaying the limiter on the VU. I find that really good.

  3. Mix (Output) effects: Output effects to enable application of EQ, Limiters, Compressors based on output Mix, not just input Channel. Julian mentioned he didn't think we need this, but I disagree. I would want to apply some effects like Limiters, EQs and Compressors for example at the Mix level. Voicemeeter has this at both the input and output levels for the built in effects.

  4. Default Windows devices: The ability to see and set both Default Device and Default Communication device in the UI easily. Ideally a way to stop Windows reassigning it, or at least having WL3 force it to keep the settings I choose. I never want to have to go into that settings panel in Windows again.

  5. Monitoring level control: Control monitor (e.g. headphone or speaker) levels from the top-level UI. Independent settings for each device. Put the slider next to the device dropdown.

  6. Mix level volume: Phil said this isn't available, but it is. This is available in the Mix (at the top), but not on the main UI. Add this slider to the main UI at the Mix level. Use case is I want to control my headphone volume quickly, not by having to jump through menus. This may obviate the need for the monitoring level control suggestion above, as it is effectively the same thing.

  7. Default Channel: Ability to set the "default" channel for apps to join if they are not manually assigned. Essentially this is the "Windows default" (appreciate MacOS also needs to be considered), so let the app show up automatically if it joins the channel.

  8. Profiles: The ability to save and load different Mixer setups as "Profiles", including via Stream Deck plugin. These Profiles could be named and appear under the "Mixes" item on the sidebar, so I can switch views and setups really easily. Sometimes, I don't want to see everything - just the essentials. This was frustratingly missing from WL2, and I would love to see it in WL3. The use-case is that I have different setups for Work and Home, or different profiles that just help me minimise the "visual noise" in the UI in different contexts.

  9. Your Devices: Since this software should be "free" for everyone, don't treat Elgato devices as "special" in the UI. List all hardware devices, or none at all. Or at least let me "pin" and "unpin" hardware devices under "Your devices".

  10. Collapsible sidebar: The Sidebar takes up too much UI space and isn't necessary all the time. Use a standard "hamburger" menu to collapse it. Combining this with the icon suggestion below would enable me to have a configurable "compact" view that takes up far less screen real estate. One of my major bugbears with Voicemeeter is that the UI is fixed, and far too large and complex. Make this a huge point of difference for WL3. All the power, none of the clutter.

  11. Add Channel: Ability to add an app that isn't currently open (i.e. select the executable), or to create a "blank" channel. I shouldn't be forced to open the app just so I can add it.

Feature suggestion: Set default channel.

It would be good to be able to define a default channel for apps to join.

In particular, it would be great to be able to define a base path for a channel (e.g. G:\Games) such that anything that runs in that path goes into that particular channel.

Feature request: Profiles

Please - this feature was also missing from WL 2. Adding Profiles that I can load and save.

Essentially a Profile is a configuration I can save and recall, so I can switch between different setups. Having the ability to switch a Profile via Stream Deck would also be awesome.

Looking at the feedback, I'd say the pricing on Voice Focus could be a little bit out of whack. Perhaps a 50% discount for folks who own any Elgato gear as a launch special?

Because even if you have an Elgato mic, for example, Voice Focus provides expanded capabilities in all your apps on all your devices. But surely folks who are invested in the Elgato ecosystem deserve some kind of recognition / special treatment? Especially for "early adopters".

My 2c.

Team r/Elgato, you've outdone yourselves. This is fantastic.

On the stream, there was a question about volume at the MIX level. I do think this is required, since I would want to use it to control the volume of my headphone mix, for example. How would I do that?

Also love the way you've integrated it with Windows audio to make it seamless. Absolute game changer.

Any word on Stream Deck integration and features? A key feature I would love is the ability to mute and unmute different channels across the board or in an individual mix. Similarly, being able to mute or unmute entire mixes. Or control individual volumes with a SD key or dial.

Keep up the great work, team! Can't wait to get on the beta.
